I have tried getting involved (I am a programmer) but it got nowhere. I guess I'll have to try harder and in different spots where help is actually needed. It got quite busy at my job lately (tech downturn and all...) and I admit I am a bit lazy as I'd much rather pay to get even than get involved. I guess I will have change that. Thanks for the reassurance;) (I didn't see that perspective).

Is there an open source "help needed" board anywhere? Can someone enlighten me please?
Software must be sold to get the money to make more software. How else could a software company work? He is right, at least in part. Look at MS, they have tones of cash (too much really). Which open source firm is even profitable? Anyone besides RH? GPL does bestow freedom *but* it does make it hard to charge money for your work. And yes, money is needed to make more software. I am not saying the MS way is perfect, far from it. They are heavily abusing their power.
I am a Linux user and it is 110% sweet to have a stable OS with a great web server & mail server (Courier in my case - it rocks) all for free. But I have an incredible sense of guilt when using it because I know that lots of people have put in their time and best effort to make this awesome software and that I'm not giving much in return.
I did rip off the filters (thanks) and it does help but it's still not very good. I have seen GeForce2 (not MX) cards and they still look like crap. Tom is reporting the same thing about GeForce 4s in his review (very last page). I don't think it's an MX only problem...
I have a GeForce2 MX made by ASUS (not Prolink or whatever) driving a Samsung 900NF monitor. I also have an old Matrox Millennium II PCI. The picture quilty of the Matrox card is awesome (also tried w/ G450MAX also looking good). No amount of FSAA would make the GeForce look even decent. In the end I had to remove all the R/F filters from the GeForce to make it look barely acceptable. If I didn't play games I'd never ever keep that card.
I think they should first fix their picture quality issues before they go into advancing FSAA or whatever else. They all look dreadful. Any old Matrox or ATI card will beat them in that department.
I did note it. It implies that most of the time heterogenity of the populuce is obtained through illegal deeds. I am not disputing that those things happen (they shouldn't really) but the it is pretty inflamatory to assume it *usually* happens. The tone of that message is what made me reply. It is basically saying that if you don't have a visible minority you are a criminal.
Sometimes a homogenous nation arises naturally, or even as a result of a group splitting off from a more mixed country. Often, though, this is because persons who don't fit in are marginalized or threatened until they move out or are simply killed.
True.
The Serbs aren't the only ones who do this, even such civilized folks as the Japanese discriminate against their own native ethnic minorities, and don't let immigrants become citizens.
Whoa! I love that sentence. So Serbs are uncivilized? Hahahahahaha. What a slur! Good going, very civilized.
OK, Mexico might be a bad example but I think you got my point. Anyway we are way offtopic here so I will not pursue this matter further with you.
It's not necessarily racist. With so many countries being mostly or all of one ethnic and/or religious group (which usually indicates that the country has its own racist and exclusionary practices or else they'd have a more visible minority)
This is an argument (flame really) as ridiculous as they come. So are Nepalese all racist because they are all Budist? Is Mexico racist because they are all Latino Christian? You probably live in an ethnically diverse place but there are places where there have not been many incomers in a long while so people are homogenous. It doesn't mean they are racist!
I am a Linux proponent but I have to agree with you on most points but not all (X is powerful but a huge pain it the arse). And yes, 2.4 should still be 2.3.xx... But 2.2.20 kicks butt - who's making you upgrade?
I also program on both Win32 & Linux. I like VC++ 6 a lot (there are some nasty things they left in there to avoid breaking compatibility with old/broken software) and lots of the newer API are good but the old Win32 API is junk. I still can't get past the stupid notion that you have to have a message queue (read: window, visible or otherwise) to use the whole API. Geez! Overall I think Linux is a stable and better development environment (at least I enjoy it far more).
I hope someone comes up with a viable business model for Linux desktop and gaming, using GPL or otherwise.
I have a 1.5 yr. old 20 GB 34 GXP that saw only light usage and it died once already. Maybe 75 GXP isn't the only bad series. On a side note - I'm running a Fujitsu-s in my server that sees heavy usage and they are just fine...

Most? Unlikely. Missionaries spread christianity through Russia, Ukraine, most of central Europe (Balkans too), Ethiopia, Georgia, Armenia... I will not dispute that there was also speading at sword point (Teutonic knights...). Colonial era is another story however.

I have a couple of comments to make on this article (disclaimer: I am christian).
I have read the Koran and from what I have been able to gather Jihad is also prescribed to bring non-believers to the right faith.
To my knowledge there were no christians in India prior to British arrival and they are a small minority right now. Also, I have no knowledge of "Arab Jews". There were Jews in Palestine before Israel was founded but these people were not Arab. There are planty such inconsistencies in this letter.
Let me stress that I am not anti-muslim by any measure.

I am saddened to see Loki go.
Cheers.
If you read carefully you'll see that the Bush administration just inherited this from Clinton.
