So no, controlling this spam/virus menace isn't quite that easy. Whatever method you use to legitimately send mail, the worms will follow that same method.
What if your SMTP server requires authentication? If the ISP blocks port 25, and requires some sort of authentication, the worm would also have to figure out how to authenticate, right?
File renaming is one of the things I hate the most about iTunes, because it works just like the Windows behavior you describe. Click, wait, click again, maybe it will select the text for renaming, maybe, oops, I started playing this track. Dang. Too bad Apple misses some consistency in places. I really prefer file renaming in the Finder to Windows: <return> -> rename the file. <cmd-o> -> open the file/app.
Hm, I originally from reading their press release, I didn't quite get the picture that this also applied to the OS X version. Now that I re-read the press release, and the other post here, I am still equally confused.
There's no Power Button on the keyboard anymore. *sigh* It's just hold down power button on CPU for five seconds. Or just never reboot...which is almost possible now...
Looking Glass ?!? Good night, Visix, that brings back memories. Back in the days when a cross-patform toolkit really was trying to do something. Wow. *sniffle*
Slightly [OT]: Setting up WebDAV in OS X
on
iCal 1.5.2 Released

· Score: 1
Reading this note made me wonder about setting up WebDAV on my own OS X box, and instead of asking the quesiton, I looked for the answer (!) and I found this helpful page: http://www.gregwestin.com/webdav_for_ical.php so I thought I'd post a link to it.
So how come Sony doesn't get tons of nasty press about charging for fixing a consumer's equipment (the "oh-so-common won't-charge-the-perfectly-good-battery problem"?), but Apple gets hate-movies made when the iPod battery has the same characteristics as many other PDA batteries (i.e. non-user-replacable), or when they have trouble with their iBooks?
Maybe it's because the Vaio runs M$Windows (by default)?
You've got to be kidding. How big are the prints you are making? What kind of film camera are you talking about? Have you ever blown up a picture to anything bigger than 5x7 or 8x10?
I have a something like 32x24 print made from 35mm black & white film. Yes, it looks grainy, but it's a good kind of grainy. And it was taken with a good 35mm SLR camera with a good lens.
I'd hate to see your 4 megapixel conusmer camera picture at 32x24. It would look like slush!
I agree that there's not a lot good about APS, however, besides the date, the *major* feature of APS that a lot of consumers use is its ability to record the desired print aspect ratio. That is, panoramic/classic(4x3)/full frame(AKA "hd"/16x9). Also it always knows which way is up, no matter if the camera loads right-hand or left-hand, and allows frame titling and therefore front-printing of messages, etc. A lot more than it just "remembers the date." People like their panoramic prints.
Some 35mm cameras do pans, but there's no 100% sure way for a photofinisher to tell that it is a pan unless it is examined by an operator. That is a (small) advantage of APS over 35mm.
They work fine when they're *open.* The ATMs mostly close when the banks close. It seems to me that Japan is years behind the US in terms of banking & payment conveniences. Many grocery stores only accept *their* version of the Visa card.
I wonder what you mean by "wonderful language?" It's not very direct or specific except when it comes to describing fish. Anyway, it seems Japanese is rapidly turning into something else. Come on--"raisu" instead of "gohan?"
Somehow I think OS X will be well into 64 bits by 2038, considering the release of the G5 this year.
Of course, some people are still using very old Macintosh computers (seems to be a trend with Mac users), so I guess it's possible that there will be someone in 2038 holding onto his blue + white G3 for dear life!
And the USA would stop conflict by vaporizing the entire Middle East, without regard to whoever actually carried out the bombing? This is the sort of behavior that causes guerrilla conflicts to carry on forever.
How about getting to the bottom of the real problem: that people have been angry at the USA for a long time because of its exploitative and seemingly imperialistic foreign policy. (I suppose there are other reasons, too.)
I'm not talking about retaliation, but the attitude of the post. Gloating about the posession of nuclear weapons indiscriminately threatening retaliation thus:
I assure you everything between Israel and India, from Egypt to Turkey, will be vaporized
This kind of attitude is exactly the reason that America is disliked. If America sows control with an iron fist (economic or otherwise), it will reap little but rebellion in the long run.
The people of the world are interrelated--the USA does not exist in a vacuum. It needs the rest of the world more than it wants to admit on the nightly news.
e pluribis unum, indeed, since you feel like quoting in old languages.
In a way, what he is doing is like a music remix. Bands will remix other bands' music as a tribute, and lots of people enjoy those remixes greatly.
Of course, some people don't. Oh well!
Actually, now that I think about it, one of the things I like the *least* in music is when a band records a "cover" of an older song, and the new version sounds just like the old version. So in a way, I also think that the LOTR movies *should* be different from the book. It makes them more interesting, from this point of view.
Still waiting on 10.3, personally, indefinitely. I don't have a real great reason to upgrade from 10.2.8 at the moment, as my computer runs quite stably.
Yeah, the theming is especially wrong many times when I start up the X11 server for OS X and run a....
Oh, nevermind.
What if your SMTP server requires authentication? If the ISP blocks port 25, and requires some sort of authentication, the worm would also have to figure out how to authenticate, right?

And how does Palm OS compare to something like TRON / T-Kernel?
Hm, I originally from reading their press release, I didn't quite get the picture that this also applied to the OS X version. Now that I re-read the press release, and the other post here, I am still equally confused.
It appears from the press release on RealNetworks' site that the vulnerability does not affect the Mac OS X version.
Hm, once again, nothing to worry about.
All your bass are belong to us!
(sorry)
Where's my choice for "-1, YOU MONSTER!!" moderation?
There's no Power Button on the keyboard anymore.
*sigh*
It's just hold down power button on CPU for five seconds.
Or just never reboot...which is almost possible now...
What?
I can barely hear you over the roar of my MDD G4!
Is it possible for a US citizen to be pinched on this when living outside the USA and using a non-USA ISP, I wonder?
(like me)
(not on the list)
Looking Glass ?!?

But can I run Logic on it?
Oh, I guess I need a different 64-bit machine.

If Expose is not totally original, then it's a really a rip-off of the procedure of laying out all of my (physical) papers on my (physical) desk.
You might've well have said that Alt-Tab is a rip-off of good old ps, bg, and fg.
I think Expose is original, and I think Expose is great!
