A) Chlorine, Bromine, and their Ozone cappin' friends stay in the atmosphere for decades. Even with a significant drop in emissions (its precipitousness is reminiscent of the bunny slope) it will be a very long time before significant positive effects accrue. As the article points out, we can expect about 0.1% to 0.2% per year in the near term.
B) This record breaking event is the culmination of several phenomena, including large-scale, seasonal factors that completely overshadow the tiny bit of healing the layer has done in the last few years. "This slow decrease is masked by large year-to-year variations caused by Antarctic stratosphere weather fluctuations."
One thing the article does NOT mention is any cry of "Wolf!". There isn't any environmentalist finger-wagging, just some scientists saying "holy shnikes, take a look at the SIZE of that thing!!"
Contrary to a previous post, I just reloaded my Alltunes account via an XROST card, purchased via Click&Buy with my Visa debit. Throw a couple of $20's at Alltunes and your music acquisitions will be safe for a while, anyway.
What you are proposing is the religious (vs. race) equivalent of Jim Crow segregation. It's illegal, and race and religion are protected from discrimination in parallel.
Got IDL, Matlab, or a C compiler? Using the SPICE toolkit is cake - I do it every day, waiting patiently for the Blue Fairy to elevate me from ephemeris monkey to Real Scientist. Some days I wish JPL/LANL hadn't written SPICE...my job might actually be interesting.
"...Most threads I've read about "Fair Use" and Copyright law seem to ignore one simple thing: When you download music from iTMS, you know ahead of time, what the rules are. You agreed to them when clicking "Accept" on the EULA screen iTunes threw at you upon installation. Apple offers you a contract, you accept it by using their service. It is that simple...."
Apple's contract may, or may not, claim to prohibit you from exercising your fair use rights in their entirety (and converting media to be played on alternate technology, as in removing debilitating encryption to enable private playback on your linux box, non-iPod, family dog, whatever, _is_ covered under fair use -- see court rulings following the introduction of the VCR); however, as this is a right guaranteed you by US copyright law, even agreeing to give up that right in contractual obligation to Apple cannot take it away. You may feel free to present me with a contract in which I agree to forever give up my right to free speach and peaceful assembly, and when I proceed to sign it and then publicly laugh at you, you can take me straight to court...and the judge will laugh at you, too.
The snippet of song accompanying this trailer is simply breathtaking. Does anyone know what the song, or who the singer, is? I've tried google'ing some lyrics, to no avail.
Actually, there was a little known mozilla plugin (I can't remember the name) that implemented tabbed browsing before galeon did. I remember snagging it from Themes.org. It was a royal pain to get working, but boy did it blow my friends/officemates away!:-)
In "this model" (socialism/communism) the idea is that the government is only paying for the cost of developing the software, not making the authors rich. Software would be a whole bunch cheaper if al that was being paid for was the cost of developing the software, and not the cost of lining the developer's pockets. Nobody gets rich in real social/communism, but that's the idea - this crazy notion that people would create art and science and goods and services for the betterment of themselves, their society, and their fellow man, and not just for the holy dollar.
I enthusiastically differ. I'm an American (hopefully not for much longer), but have many foreign friends, from heavily diverse countries. My experience speaking with anyone from outside of the U.S. is that your "90% of the rest of the world is full of barbaric murderous thugs" opinion is exactly what earns us titles like "the Great Satan." Most Americans, or at least the loudest ones, can only decry the sorry state of the rest of the world. Wake up! The only reasons America is more "civilized" are sweat shops and slave labor in those "barbaric" places.
I'm pretty sure I know how the paper and pencil system works, but that doesn't mean I'm at the polling place keeping Mrs. Jones from losing a few votes for one candidate or another.
Sorry for the delay. Try alltunes.com instead of allofmp3 (same people, your same account). They have the XROST and other links there.
RTFA. It kindly mentions that
