Whatever they are now, it doesn't carry as much weight as the general image that they've had up to this point.

  2. Oh radiation on FCC Revisiting Mobile Device Radiation Standards · · Score: 1

I find it ironic the amount of fear that there is against any sort of radiation. Remembering from my science class, radiation is basically any form of energy that doesn't need a medium to travel through. In other words, any form of energy that can travel through outer space can be considered radiation. There's only a very small spectrum of energy that can be considered "radiation" in how it's usually portrayed.

I would say it's not exactly the same. The bartender is able to see the status of the person right in front of them. On the other hand the person texting probably doesn't know if the recipient is driving.

Only one thing from what you've said do I object to, car shifter as you put it. I've driven on both sides of the road and had to deal with the stick on both sides. It really didn't bother me at all. The only challenge that I had was staying in the center of the road.

  6. Keep in mind... on Ivy Bridge Running Hotter Than Intel's Last-gen CPU · · Score: 1

I think that something that people need to keep in mind is this chip is ~31% smaller. Even with that it's using the same amount of power. I'm not surprised that a byproduct of compressing an area like that is more heat. Also, the chip uses Turbo Boost 2.0. This is automatic overclocking.

  7. FTL info transfer. on The First Universal Quantum Network · · Score: 1

I was under the impression that no interactions of QM go FTL. But a lot of posts have been saying that collapse is basically instantaneously. If this is the case than a encumbersome form of FTL communication could be made. Instead of measuring the states, just use positioning. Like optimise the signal so that you can send your message in a byte, then arrange it so each molecule is arranged like a normal binary number of 1s and 0s. Then send a message by just collapsing the corresponding bits. I suppose that this would only work for emergency messages considering reestablishment the entanglement would be a lot slower.

Kind of disappointing that part of the conversion between car to airplane mode is done manually. Wonder why that is.
