The reason why we allow not just 18 year olds but 16 year olds to drive, but not DRINK until they're 21 is because we like to keep drunk driving accidents down to a minimum. So yes in a society where people abandone the unhibitied freedoms of a nomadic lifestyle, a person's freedom to drive however they want is absolutely infringed so that people can get from point A to point B without getting flattened by some drunk on the road.

What you aren't noticing is that before the iPod was introduced there were a lot of MP3 Players already on the market with a lot of features the iPod still doesn't have and the market did not take off. There will always be a niche of geeks and hardcore users who want all those features but most folks just want something that "just works". And Apple has that covered with the iPod. The Creative CEO assumes that because his company's products have more features for the same or less money that they will outsell the iPod. I doubt this very much so.

Did it ever occur to you that people work on proprietary software to make money, because they like to buy all sorts of things that require money, and they don't see software as a movement, but rather as "stuff" that runs on a computer? The main issue the people you cannot understand have is you try to equate the 1's and 0's of binary software with the issues involving civil rights or religious freedom or democracy. They're not the same. Software is just a "thing" that people use. The others are real issues that are important to fight and die for. One really sounds like a loser when one tries to elevate software to that level. I know the first thought in *MY* mind is "Why don't you find a REAL cause instead of pretending you have a valid crusade with this free software business"?

I take it this economic system is based on a particular religon. Whats the point of designing such a system knowing full well you'll never get 100% or even 75% of the population to be a part of any one religion?
Do you think every company that depends on intellectual property is some huge megalithic entity? Aren't some of these companies small or midsized businesses that will go OUT of business if they can't get paid for what they're producing? So when those companies go under and those folks lose their jobs is that not an important issue? The perpetrator of the crime may appear generally harmless, but you greatly underestimate the amount of economic damage one twerp behind a keyboard can do while still in his mother's basement.
