    The judge is known to be a pro-Apple shill. She's made illogical rulings favorable to Apple before.

    In short, Samsung is in trouble if they expect a fair trial (given the history, they probably expect the trial to be anything but fair).

    Did this "fact" appear on FoxNews?

    I was a bit surprised that 5 year old equipment just isn't worth it to Apple to support.

    Why were you surprised? They don't support my G4 PowerMac anymore, either.

    Why not? Because Mountain Lion 1) won't run on almost all my Macs, 2) it removed the SAVE AS choice, 3) the main goal of Mountain Lion appears to be to corral software developers into using Apple's App Store for all sales.

    Not quite right... it was Lion 10.7 that removed "Save As..."

    Other people have listed some compelling reasons that they installed Mountain Lion but you list two, including grousing about your archaic Macs.

    If you are going to take the time to type, giving something worthwhile to think about, eh.

    Except that Mac OSX updates are akin to Windows service packs which are free and just as frequent.

    As someone who's seen plenty of both, it's obvious that you are pissed off about something.

    It's mostly inertia; older people (like 30+) are set in their ways and think cable is a requirement for modern life. (I say this as someone almost 40; I don't think most of my peers are as up to newer technologies as me.)

    That's the same logic people use to justify buying Honda's $35,000 Acura that has automatic everything and can even park itself. Personally I'd rather buy a Honda Civic for $15,000, do my own parking, and give myself $20,000 worth of time off (3 months) to spend it with my wife & kids & friends.

    Ditto with PC v. Mac. Admittedly $600 saved isn't a lot, but it does eliminate the need to work overtime on Saturday to pay the Mac's extra cost.

    This seems to be a good opportunity to reprise what experienced IT administrators all know: Acquisition is a small part of the entire cost of owning and operating a computer over its lifetime.

    Home computer users don't really have good visibility to this.

    Me? I'd rather spend the $600 up front and save a ton of time and money over the years. But that's just me.

    Tablets and phones outnumber Apple's computer sales by something like 10:1.

    If Apple is making "billions of dollars of profit" every quarter, then it is not because of the PC business. If Apple were still just a PC company they would be either dead or terribly obscure by this point.

    I disagree. A tablet is a PC. Anyway, that's what all the evidence says.

    Almost all the features I saw in Apple's presentation and feature list are rip-offs of features from third party iOS developers, Android, Firefox, Chrome, Gnome, KDE, and other non-Apple developers and systems.

    I enjoy the immersible experience of recreational reading but you can't smell a f*cking eBook!

    I love to plant my face right in the middle of a book and breath deeply and long. I like to fan out the pages of a book and then allow it to compress slowly, burping out its scented air. I know that I've enjoyed a particularly good reading session when I sport ink smudges on each side of my nose.

    For work and reference tasks, however, eBooks have a couple strong advantages.
