I can travel freely to Cuba, can you? Oh, that's right, the US government has restrictions on its citizens to travel to Cuba, so it might not be that easy for you...
I really have no idea what ban of books, movies and/or other media you're talking about... Feel free to fill me in.
Stop using the Web then, a European invention designed to make information more and better accessible to everyone, speaking as a European, it's our property. Don't like it? Tough.
Nope, I've gotten bad data in XP with a USB stick-drive having pulled it out once the file copy dialog had closed. Tried again, same bad data, and then tried once more and finally unmounted the thing and the data was good.
And don't forget, it'll probably take you less time to physically steal the CD from the store and go home and rip it than it'll take for you to download the same full CD off P2P in good quality (or at least, the same quality throughout the CD).
This must be some miracle machine. From the linked article.. The two hard drives can be setup for RAID 0, 1 or 10 via the BIOS.
Now, it may be a few years since I took classes in college that touched on various RAID levels, but one thing that I DO remember is that RAID 10 requires a minimum of 4 physical drives...
Funny, because I can't remember a single POP3 client that I have used throughout the years that did NOT delete mail off the server after retrieving it, by default.
Grub can't boot from CD or floppy (please correct me if I'm wrong).
I have a computer with grub as a bootloader. The BIOS in that very computer is a bit special in that it doesn't appear to be able to boot from a CD (it gives an error on a perfectly good CD drive). I would be so thrilled if I could boot from a CD using grub like I could do with lilo.
No. The USA does not have the world's best landline telephone infrastucture.
I'm currently in the New England area and I honestly could not believe how crappy the voice quality is in the landline phones that I have used here. I have made calls from Scandinavia to Kuwait with much better voice quality than any local call I have made while in the New England area.
Before you get all upset about how it must have been just crappy phones that I have had to use here in the US, then I must be one unlucky man, since the voice quality was almost the crappy same on each and every single phone that I have used.
On a personal note, it would be nice if we could have ONE Slashdot discussion about broadband or cell phones without the following cropping up:
1. "The US has a much bigger landmass so it's impossible to offer high quality broadband everywhere"
- Who said anything about offering it in every square inch? How about offering it in small cities instead of just the top 100? 2. "The US has a much bigger landmass than Europe/$Asian-country so it's impossible to offer good cellphone coverage everywhere"
- Again, who said anything about every square inch? In smaller cities and along the frickin' highways would be a start. 3. "The US doesn't have to offer good cell coverage since it has such an excellent landline infrastructure unlike $poor-3rd-world-country where people keep stealing the copper lines for money"
- In other words, "it's OK until we're worse than everybody else. Fine words to live by.:-)
That said, apart from IMO crappy telecoms, I really like the New England area.:-)
Your primary goal should always be data integrity!.
I'm confused... you want the OP to use striped disks, yet you want the OP to have data integrity as a primary goal. That's like asking for a raw boiled egg.
Doesn't the Aflac duck balance your checkbook? In the ad, it seemed proficient enough to write checks, so I don't suppose that balancing the checkbook should be too hard.
Assuming the guy who wrote the C code wasn't a complete asshat and used reserved words in C++ as variable names in C. The words this, new and delete come to mind.
Only in the Security Council, but then again, so does the US.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - The Knights Who Say Ni.
... err ... The Knights who until recently said Ni.

Sorry, the Knights Who say Ecky Ecky patong zoooop *mumble*
Now. Where's my cookie?
Yes, it's a form of SneakerNet, you see.
I am from Iceland,
Sanctions, yes. But none so extreme that citizens are forbidden to travel as they see fit.
There is a long way between economic sanctions nation-to-nation and people travelling to said country.

Then why isn't the border patrol actively stopping everybody under the age of 21 on their way to Mexico or Canada where the legal drinking age is 18?
The people in question are clearly leaving the country with the intent to avoid the drinking limit in their state.
Yes you did, but no such program was installed.

And what mystery language, pray tell, do you know of where I can track an infinite number of items and NOT spend any RAM on tracking them?

here... is about as close as you'll get these days I'm afraid.
;-)
Of course, that would require you to switch to a GSM carrier

Don't push this button again.

So, if I put a sign on my car saying "Stealing this car is illegal", I have a bit more of a leg to stand on if the car gets stolen?
So, sharing session state between loadbalanced servers is impossible then?
*cough*bullshit*cough.
Never having seen a USB keyboard I could understand, but never having seen a USB mouse must require some deliberate USB mouse dodging.

For that, Find As You Type (and ctrl-g to find again) works great.
And what if I'm searching for a gazillion keywords? I have to type each and everyone of them in, won't I?
Why should I waste my time typing in the keywords I just typed in when there is a button in the toolbar that takes me to the exact keyword I want?
