    It's an impressive hack, or series of hacks rather, so I wouldn't say boring. The interest is not that the exploits are anything new (they aren't), but in the difficulty of pulling it off.

    I was actually thinking of the original physical port before they switched to the D-type connectors, as opposed to the interface protocol. The protocol will probably be around a while yet for the reasons you state.

    The NSFW thing may be a joke, but it smacks of a trollish joke to cause more people to visit the site for ad revenue.

    I think you nailed it. And considering that Fark is now devoid of anything remotely NSFW on pain of shadowbanning that would make any new visitors the butt of the joke.

    Someone should tell Drew that lame, unfunny and deceptive is no way to run a website. They problem is that trying to tell him would probably result in bannination - oh wait, it already did.

    I used to use the old PCC on all sorts of weird mini-computers in the '80s. I wonder if it still spits out a "too many shapes" error when functions get too big?

    At the time people were wondering if GCC would ever be good enough to replace it ...

    Good points, but before you apologise too much for slagging off VB consider the words of a wise man:

    It is practically impossible to teach good programming to students that have had a prior exposure to BASIC: as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration.

    I find 'less' much more useful than 'tail' for interactive use. If you hit 'F' it'll switch into a mode similar to 'tail -f', displaying lines as they're written. Then you can interrupt and be back in the regular page/search mode.

    Pah! Away with your logical arguments!

    As it happens though, I hear "realise" pronounced in various ways, ranging from a hard 's' to a soft 'z' depending on the speaker's accent. Possibly the spelling influenced the accent more than vice-versa.
