I'm not sure if this has been covered, and I'm sure as hell not going to wade through comments in the four-digit range, but there are a couple of ways to get your money's worth.

One is to buy a nonstandard caret. You hear .75 caret, 1 caret, .5 carets, like nature and jewelers worked on a rational number system. But people go in and want to buy the nice round numbers. So there is less demand for the odd chickens... you might be able to get the .73, for example, for quite a bit less than the .75.

    I'm sure there are others.

Actually, there was a pilot TV movie I recall, basically about an android that goes on the lam to learn more about people. At one point, he is in a poolhall, and some guys try to "shark" the "rube". He clues in that it's geometry and physics. He looks at the table, a bunch of equations get overlaid on his cheesy pixilated view, with a path for everything to go down. "I should make all the balls go into the holes?" "Just solids or stripes" says one of the sharks. "Ah. I will make that adjustment," says the robot, followed by another view with altered trajectory.

Can't remember the name of it, though. "21st Century Android" or something. Like I said, it was a pilot, didn't go anywhere.

While he certainly wouldn't have the exposure he has in Toronto, we're not talking backwater hicks, either. Fraud, in this case, is a highly subjective thing. Picture signing several forms, most of which are legitimate and one of which is the release form. If the person actually delivers something to you, asks you to "sign these forms", and you do, where is the fraud? He's not claiming that (all) the forms are for the delivery.

Such tactics are, so I am told, routinely used by paparazzi and other photographers to get "permission" to sell otherwise personal pics. I'm not saying they can't be taken to court, just that establishing fraud becomes a much more difficult task.

As a wise man once said, no amount of legislation can protect someone from their own stupidity. Nor should it.

  14. Is the writer missing the point? on More On The SDMI Crack & Why Digital Sigs Are Not · · Score: 2

As I understand contract law, whether you see the document is relatively unimportant. Someone could take pictures of you, get you to sign a release form that you think is just signing for a delivery or some other such ruse, and then sell the pics. The release form would still be legally binding, as you should have at least looked at the form you signed.

So it is here. If you haven't taken measures to ensure that the program you use to digitally sign documents is doing so everytime and only when you intend to sign a document, then hard cheese. Use of a DS program, in conjunction with the law, is tantamount to declaring "I agree to be held accountable to any document bearing my digital signature."

So, the authour is quite correct in saying that a DS does not always mean that you saw the document, but given what I've detailed here, does it matter?

Quite a few cute girls I know have tried their hand at modelling, and have professional-quality pics to show for it. But they aren't models. Why shouldn't they use these pics?

Similarly, some people are good at photography, or know someone who is. Still, I agree that the more of the elements you mention occur in one picture (particularly the exotic locale - vacation pics just don't get done that way!), the less likely it is to be anything other than a glamour shot.
