And lets not forget the amazing soundtrack. Everytime I hear it it makes me want to pick up a claymore and ride into battle! The music just fit so well with the movie...in the first half of the show there were maybe four or so sentences of dialog but the music just added a level of comunication all its own. Especially the scene you mentioned when Conan's mother gets it. Nothing was said but the music coupled with that scene definitly said a thousand words.
And I definatitly agree with you on Nicol Williamson. I don't believe anyone will ever portray Merlin as well as he did!:)
Indeed...I saw the trailer for LOTR and the hair on my arms stood up! I believe that it will probably give the fantasy movie genre the shot in the arm that its been needing. Can't wait to see how many clones that movie spawns!:)
I dunno...my definition of a 'fantasy movie' would have to be that the movie contains certain amounts of mysticism, magic or other er...well...fantastic elements. You could get pretty philisophical with that question!:)

Legend Conan the Barbarian Excalibur Just to name a few. They are few and far between but they are out there!
