I'm strange, I admit... But I find that damn funny.

rtfa. It was NASA chief Sean O'Keefe's decision to plan mission, not President Bush's, nor his administration's.

This link makes it clear that O'Keef wants this to be a "robotic mission". I don't think they can design robots to replace batteries and gyros by 2007, but I truly hope they can. So it won't be a political battle that axes it, but a technological one.

I've purchased or recommended many (more than 15) for me and others in the past 2 or 3 years. Never had a single problem with any... Oh, except my dads, who took me quite literally when I told him to go blow out his computer to get the dust out... He did, with 150+ PSI at close range. NIC pooched. Lite-On CD Burner pooched. CPU Fan pooched -- I've often wondered how many RPM's he had that puppy turnin'.

A friend of mine bought an ASUS P4 mb here a few months back. I walked him through installing it in his new fancy case. I thought he understood.

Well, the next day at work, he's got the mb box under one arm, and an RMA in the other.

    "What happened?"

"Well, I put the motherboard in the case like you said. I was a little hard getting it in, but I got it in and screwed it down. You were right, it was obvious where the screws went.... But they woudln't screw into anything so I just went ahead and plugged in all the cables like you said, and the power, etc.... But when I turned on the power it made a loud buzzing sound and there was a little smoke."

    "Holy shit." I said.

He didn't use the little brass posts. The motherboard was flat-out grounded against the case.

I thought it was common sense.... I was wrong. Some people should stick to playing games.

Never underestimate the power of a physical addiction, my friend.

I hear ya... I chewed for 10+ years. I shouldn't have said it was "easy"... and yes, I still crave it from time to time. Nicotine is nasty!

But still, when I actually wanted to quit, I did.

If you WANT to quit, you will. You don't need any drugs, devices, or enemas.

Everyone I know who has tried (and failed) to quit, failed because they did not want to quit smoking. They tried to quit because they just felt they should.

You can quit when you actually WANT too.

Mind over matter, and shit like that....

  9. Creative Labs has done this on Are Review Units Better Than Store Versions? · · Score: 1

When they first shipped one of their 8x CD Burners, it was a rebadged plextor. You could flash it with a slightly modified Plextor patch and basically turn it into a Plextor burner. This was the version of the drive that went out for reviews, and obviously it did well.

Shortly thereafter, they switched to a way cheaper rebadged Samsung (with less capabilities) and left the packaging the same. It was impossible to tell from the packaging which burner was in the box.
