Probably. I spend more time on Diaspora than elsewhere though.

While some resources are indeed really limited, many others are limited artificially only. Scarcity and poverty are necessary components of our current economy. If a scientist would invent a "quality enhancer" tomorrow, what do you think would happen? Exactly, it would sell at high prices to rich people (or those with expensive insurance plans) first.

Why not? My grandma is 90+ and still happily alive. She lives alone and spends lots of time online Facebook-ing and Skype-ing the many people she's got to know during her long life and meets up with some of them every now and then. The only help she receives is a maid doing some of the heavier cleaning tasks two times a week.

My only fear at that age would be outliving all my close friends and family, but if my grandma is anything like I can expect for myself I'm certainly not worried about physical or mental issues.

How is making a plane fall from the sky not terrorism? Isn't cyberspace just another avenue for terrorists like it is for other criminals? Aren't you comparing apples and oranges here? It now sort of sounds like saying "people are now more scared of underwear-bombs than of terrorists".

Several evolved 3G standards are allowed to be called 4G according to the ITU. Keep in mind that LTE itself is also a 3GPP standard, introduced in 3GPP version 10. To get true 4G you would need LTE Advanced, which is not available anywhere afaik.

It's fine to stick to your guns and say Dual-Cell HSDPA is not 4G, but then LTE isn't either.

The argument seems to be that "we prefer knowledgable judges over unknowledgeable ones and that being 'involved' in the industry is simply the best way to become and/or stay knowledgable". BS, IMHO.

    Seriously?

    1) Singapore citizenship is as useful as US/EU citizenship. Some countries actually overcharge or reject visa's for US regularly. US certainly isn't a best choice for travel.

    2) Getting US citizenship is just $500. Peanuts for these people.

    3) Like most US citizens you probably missed out on the new that the US is no longer the greatest nation on the planet.

How does this matter to me as a consumer? Whether it's the telco charging extra for Whatsapp or the MPAA/RIAA blocking TPB through a court order. In both cases a money hungry entity took something that worked perfectly fine and crippled it for me. Telco's strategize, lobby both with government and standards bodies and have sizable legal departments. It's just a matter of time before they manage to stack the cards in their favor and find a way to legally cripple Whatsapp [if that's what they want to do.] I think anonymous' point is that exceptions create loopholes.
