I like the idea. Some may think "well, it's 13lbs, that's not so portable" But you have to look at it this way. Whether you haul your system to and from LAN's every week, or even move it from location to location once a year, it's common knowledge that if you can the make the package smaller, it won't get harmed as easily. Even with current day LCD's, the worry of scratching the screen, or something else, makes people put them in a box, which takes up room, and is a general pain in the ass. If you can fold it up, especially so that the entire screen is enclosed, what the hell, put the monitor in your glove box and save room in the moving vehicle for other stuff (like that abnormally large chair that is just really comfortable and you just CAN'T compute without it)

Professionals, more specifically digital photography (even more specifically digital typesetting, the field of work i'm in) also love Mac's. Linux on the other hand, in the professional aspect, is still sort of a new player. In the server aspect, linux is still a front runner for professionals, but in the desktop environment, it's still..shady to them. They have system's they know how to use, and aren't willing to make dramatic changes. With the Mac OS now using unix-based underlayers, professionals are even more likely to stay with Apple because "hey, we still have an Operating System we're used to, with the dependability of Li/Unix in the background, Why change?"

With all the Text Messaging done with cell phones, and now being carried over more and more onto the internet, it's able to become an acceptable form of the English Language. It may seem lazy, but i see more and more people, even those that are older, using it. Why not give the students an advantage with being taught about it, where it originated from, and all the many uses for it. This may, infact, be a good learning experience for yourself, since i'm sure most of your students know most of it already. Make it a big group discussion, ask around the room for different ones, and opinions on them, and most of all, have fun. Students seem to have the ability to learn things better if it's something that they use out of school, and if you can link these things to more of the basics of English, they just might understand :D
