    Police departments know the old box cutter trick, tchnically it is not a knife, it is a "utility tool." AMAZING. Amazing that every police department in the entire United States realizes that half of their knife crimes involve box cutters, but the damned airlines let them on the planes. But then again, they would have used sharpened credit cards if necessary.

    Technically, they are NOT willing to sacrifice themselves for their beliefs. They are willing to kill others for their beliefs, then disappear into death to hide from the repercussions. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. It is the difference between the Taliban Government, a group that enforces DRESS CODES with lethality, and my country, that tries to avoid bloodshed and make the best humane decision.

    Never, ever, ever, EVER, admire someone who is a butcher. Does anyone admire the fact that Stalin and Hitler killed so many people, based on their religious beliefs? The Muslims in power in the Taliban regime, and the terrorists that are being bankrolled by them are killing American citizens because they are majority Christian. That is all. They see no other dileniations in life. Muslim or infidel. They care about nothing else. They would go door to door and kill your children if they could. They are insulated from reasoning. Just like Hitler and Stalin were insulated from reasoning. Good luck pansies. They are not going to give up, ever. Better learn how to fight or learn how to run... because they will actively try to kill you, FOREVER. You can't re-train a group of feral dogs. You have to shoot them. Or let them eat you. I may be a Christian, but I am not going to let these bastards eat us. If this President will not solve the problem, then the American people will get a new one who will in four years. Just keep in mind that you can't reason with these people, and that all of this negotiation is to let the pansy parts of the world feel good about it, until they blow up their country too. Guess what, we're not the only ones. They better get tough too, or deal with it.

    If I remember right, the test, was, in fact, a test. It didn't work right. They questioned him and never detained or did anything even remotely close to taking action with him. Basically, it is you slime that keeps the police so inactive on trivial "Its against his civil rights to even question him" and "rules of order, I know my Miranda rights" that we are distracted to the point of letting the F*n terrorists operate in daylight WITHOUT aliases.

    Even with rolling wiretaps, the only thing that people are going to find out is that most people's lives are REALLY THAT BORING. What the hell are they going to find out about me? That I hate speeding tickets? That the girl in the cube next to me is a total babe? Cheat codes for Dreamcast? Cmon. THEY DON'T WANT YOU. The average citizen is useful only as infantry in the Gov'ts mind. Give it up. All of the stuff our forefathers said was useful in 1776. They had to quarter British troops in their homes. We are just as smart as them. And we can all read and pursue higher education. There is an answer to this... and it has nothing to do with quotations from people who were fighting a sovereign monarch.

    My friend, I think that you have misinterpereted me. Please understand that I understand the truth, seen it with my own eyes. I understand what the Jews want implicitly, and I am one of the few Christians in the world that knows THE TRUTH. But I am not an Anti-Semite. Nor am I even remotely anti-Palestinian. If anyone had even thought about taking my homeland, I would be militant too. There are Americans that care about the Palestinians, and want Palestinian independnce. We are not going to kill to get it though. We have propped up killers on both sides too long. We (Americans) have made these monsters, now we have to stop it all. The Arabic people have suffered under racism enough, but even Christian Americans are liable to violence under these circumstances. WE ARE NOT A CHRISTAN NATION THOUGH. The Muslim world MUST understand that. That is not our charter. That is not our way. However, the racist tactics that we are all using are doing no good. I would hate to see a Holy War for all of us. It is not the will of God, no matter the name.

    Does anyone find it ironic here that allowing Jews to slaughter others seems to have a real, legitimate, tubthumping moment recently? I mean, after all, forty years ago Jews were in Germany while the Germans were screaming, "RESTRICT THEIR MOVEMENT! THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED! THEY ARE PART OF A SECRET NETWORK!"

    Wow. I never thought that Jewish people who had grandparents that they can speak to right now who went through the Shoah would be so apt to kill, herd up, try to destroy others. Most of my Jewish friends would tell me that is has nothing to do with that, and that Jews and Arabs have been enemies forever. I would say that it has everything to do with that. I would say that it all seems to be suspicious that none of these groups can see the light of day... regardless of their pasts. There is one uniting factor of all human tribes, that the propensity of instant violence shows us that NOT A SINGLE ONE OF US IS CIVILIZED. Its amazing. We haven't learned a damn thing. These wars are going to be forever between us.

    Only when something like this happens, do the victims of racism show how truly racist they are as well. This should be a real eye opener. Don't get me wrong. This is only an example. Jews are not any more racist than the rest of us, we all have a lot of spite in our hearts for our fellow man. Honestly, its time for mankind to remember what they like about each other, instead of piggybacking on someone else's fight.

    Let's point out a couple of things. First, don't make fun of someone's religion. It just shows the world how superior you think you are. This is the ultimate hypocrisy for a group of people on /. that want ALL their freedoms protected, don't you think?

    Second, Falwell and Swaggart want your money, they're massive hypocrites, but the truth is that they have never come out to advocate the killing of innocents. So in that one TINY, LITTLE, INEFFECTIVE, MASSIVELY INCONSEQUENTIAL DETAIL they are not the same people as the terrorists that you claim they are. It is an insult to claim that they are, whether you like them or not. More important, the percepts of freedom that we find are so imporant to defend, are basically Jesus's (or technically every major religion's leaders, depending on how you look at it) teachings in law, with a little wisdom of the founding fathers to keep religious control out of it.

    I understsnd everyone's concern about keeping jets from burning up in the future, but it is simply impossble.
    I've seen several news reports and several studies that conclude that there is no way that you can prevent fires in jet crashes. The NTSB and the FAA state that the number one cause of death in a jet crash is fire. They (the feds) have been working on this problem since the inception of the jet plane, and there is only one conclusion to this. "Jet A," which is standard jet fuel, burns very hot for its weight, which allows modern jet travel, but it is effectively like Greek fire. It is almost impossible to put out. There are practically (meaning without making jet travel impossibly expensive, and even that is questionable whether it would be even safe) no ways to prevent fire in a plane crash. Its unfortunately the truth of modern travel.

    Jesus was a man of peace, and he understood the values of teaching his followers to turn their cheeks when occupied by a superior Roman army. But my friends, IMHO, Jesus is probably not very happy about the utter slaughter of human life that just occured. Turn the other cheek is a compassionate survival tactic to keep Christians from flying off the handle, and that one simple tenet is the one that other religions and people use to expound on the weakness of Christians. It is probably the most misunderstood and abused passage in all of Christian literature. Not surprisingly, "Turn the other cheek MIGHT NOT APPLY IN ALL SITUATIONS, especially when you are dealing with the wholesale slaughter of humanity. It doesn't say when a man cuts off your arm, extend the other one. Or when a man kills you child, hand him all the others. Don't extrapolate the text so much.

    Uh, no. I don't support Israel either, but honestly, I don't see Americans blowing up the Palestinians tallest buildings on general principle alone. Personally, they're both idiots. I trust no one who has to beg for arms, and neither trust enyone who specializes in backyard car barbecues. We would have been all too willing to give Palestine and other parts of the world weapons (after all guns = $$$$) if they hadn't kept saying "infidels" under their breath at us. Every ethnic group claims superiority, most don't overtly scream it at the other and then apply bombs. Congrats, the Arabic people have set themselves back yet another 500 years in the eyes of the rest of the world. They did the worst thing possible for their future... proved that they are a violent peolple yet again. I hope they party like its 1299. Now no one will want to deal with them ever again. I'll start worrying about them when they can build their own planes, cars, and tanks.

    Really, the reason why there are no tall buildings in that part of the world is because the people in that hemisphere haven't been peacuful long enough to pass the masonry to each other before bullets start flying. Just let them go then. If thats what they want, let them be. Don't visit. You're just begging for it. If they wan't to play with the rest of the kids, then they have to play fair.

    I could trust either one as far as I could throw them. The Israelis are using this as a ruse so that we can turn our eyes to those atrocities that they are doing... and of course, give them more money for guns. Don't suport them either.

    America, we are free. They are not. Give it up. They are all warlike out there. We should respond not in kind. But that doesn't mean that things are the way that they should be. We never asked for their wars. But we did, when we invited warlike peoples into our fold. Even the Romans weren't this stupid. We need to rebuild and get the hell out of this Israeli business. Leave them alone.

    Honestly, if they don't know how to say Tim McVeigh, then you know so little of the matter that they have no idea what we are talking about. Understandably, this person is the kind of troll that enjoys stirring the pot after tragedy because of some obvious contempt for his/her fellow man. I suggest that everyone understand one simple principle before continuing on these posts... if the person has to justify the killing of others in any fashion, then they are hate mongers, and have either been taught to hate by long culturally prorammed by ideas of justified death, or they have been abused, or harbor feelings of inadequacy that require them to lash out against the dead or grieving. DO NOT EXPECT THESE PEOPLE TO LEAVE NEWSGROUPS, they want an outlet to troll on. Please don't give them a second thought. Just please understand that when they justify "your government this" or "you deserved that" that they are the same unreasonable people that shouldn't be listened to.

    No one group of people has the lock-down on civilized behavior. I am a newsman in Nashville, TN, and I see bloodshed constantly. THIS IS UNFORTUNATELY A DIFFERENT MATTER. I would love to have a peaceful resolution to all of this... that the world will rise up and force them out of hiding. But the truth of the matter seems worse. There are images of people dancing in the streets... smiling all over (what appears to be) the Arabic world. This is incredible. I might not want a war. But as I stated above, no one group of humans is above dangerous bloodshed and violence. THIS WILL BE VERY BAD. IMHO in the Arabic world I see that they WILL NEVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE UP. They are superstars to them. For what? I have no idea. We don't dance in the streets over their deaths. I am upset when Muslims die as much as the Jews. Bun now, they have an active enemy with us. They're racist, just like the Jews are racist against them. Just like most of the rest of the world is racist. My greatest fear is that we will become racist because of this.     The truth of what you say is strong. But they were revolting against a king... y'know, monarch. BIG GUY THAT TAXED THEM UP THE YINGER. Could quarter soldiers in their homes. Impress people into the Royal Navy. Burn their houses and take their land. It was a different time.

    Keep in mind that most colonials were escaping the kind of religious staunchness that MR. BIG GUY enforced. They (the Crown) were all too happy to kick the crap out of those that they really never liked. And tax them to death.

    Kids are getting back to reading because of Harry Potter? NO. I wouldn't agree at all. There are a few great works out there that will always get attention, and unlike adult contemporary works, most are timeless because the parents themselves read them as children. I would argue that the real problem is that there are not aenough paresnts with free time to read to their kids, because they want to, and parents need enough imagination and willpower to turn off the TV and get to the library. Harry Potter is great. But a single group of novels are not going to save the publishing industry, or make our kids smarter. Trust me, book stores weren't as common like the library when I was a kid, and now everyone goes to Barnes and Noble all the time. I'll worry about the overall lack of reading when I go to a shopping mall and see less than three bookstores there. Books are everywhere, we just forget that kids are in school, and they peer into them all day, and probably don't want to read after a long day of school.

    Evolution is what has happened to us to adapt to the environment. And being able to think is the highest current adaptaion around, proofed by our proliference. By saying that there will not be a computer that can beat its biological bretheren is saying that we are the pinnacle of evolution right now, and that we have no faults in perception or application... which we all know is untrue. You really can build a better person. Actually doing it though is a major moral question.

Honestly, the real deal is that Russian people, and people the world like the USA as a #1 choice for immigration the world over. GOOD EXAMPLE? Russian mail order brides. I don't want us to piss Russia off, but the real deal with this is that he did commit a crime in the good 'ol USA. That is the same if you commit a crime in Russia.     Trust us, when it comes to radio frequencies, there is definitely someone listening. I drive through cities with at least two scanners running, and I know coworkers that sleep with the scanners rolling.

    If we could hear it, we would listen. There are more specific questions involved with the sitaution as far as cell phones, (someone please back me up here) but the reality is that I don't think that you can ACT upon the information. Even that is an issue for law enforcement personnel... that rarely happens because news people are close to the police, and often aid them in terms of manhunts and tipping information. Most of the law enforcement officers are more concerned about open burn ordinances rather than the radio laws.

    Way to go out on a limb. Defending teachers like that. I would have to say that the very real problem with all of this is that teachers are TENURED. That's right, after they pass a test once, then the rest of the world can march on and for the next 50 years, its all fine. Elementary school changes will not erase that problem. The reason is that in our system, we accept all types, there is no deliniation of types, we accept all, even if they can't speak basic English. Teaching is tough. Our educational system has to FEED SOME OF THEIR CHILDREN BREAKFAST BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS WILL NOT, that these kind of differences exsist? This is the truth of what America is looking at. The kids that get school lunches have precious little chance of an education if their parents DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT NUTRITION. It is fair, it is equitable, we do what we can. There are no real specialized, technical, PUBLIC schools in America. This is an important distinction. WE ARE FREE TO LET SOME FAIL AS WELL.
