  1. Not So Bad on It's 2013, and Windows Activation Is Still Frustrating · · Score: 1

My company uses MS KMS and we never have a problem. And the few that are not on our network have never been a problem as far as activation. The real PITA are the crap engineering software companies we deal with. Try licensing products from Trimble, AutoDESK, ESRI, ETAP, or Helios3D to name a few. None of these companies know what an enterprise network is much less anything else that has occurred in IT in the past ten years. If they were all as “bad” as MS or ESX it could save days of man hours.

Actually I am a disabled combat vet who was retired after 24 years. I don’t get disability because I earn “too much”. I spent most of my career in the Third World so I get a little peeved when I see the “poor” in America with cable, internet, cell phone, and a car while on welfare because they don’t want to work. There are plenty of jobs out there but too many people feel above doing any hard work. And according to the VA, NCHV, and HUD vet homelessness is 13% and declining so get your facts straight. Have you worked a STANDOWN week? Volunteered at a VA or military hospital? Well I do so keep your childish insults to yourself you uniformed idoit.

Don't know about that. I dropped out of an associate's degree program, so don't have any degree, and my career is doing just fine. There are plenty of people with the same amount of experience and a bachelor's who are well below me on the career ladder.

Of course, 30 years of experience means it was a different game when I was getting started than it is today, a good degree might well be a necessity if you don't have experience. But in my 30 years and 8 jobs in IT, my education, or lack thereof, has only been brought up once, and I got a job offer from them anyway. (And, yes, every job I've had listed "Bachelor's Degree" as a requirement. It never really matters if you have a solid track record.)

Same here. I will never make CIO or upper management but I really don't want to either. They don't make much more than I do and their work load consists mainly of meetings, powerpoint, and a Dilbert like lifestyle.

Dangerous? More like experienced. That is how the military works, you are property of the US government. Everyone in the military with a clearance knows, especially enlisted, they will never see the light of day if they do what he did. The UCMJ is not a Tom Cruise movie, it was written by congress to give the civilian government the utmost authority over its military. Pretrial confinement is not uncommon nor is "remedial training”. Ask any vet or serving US military member about innocent until proven guilty, it is the opposite especially in non-judicial punishment (Article 15). Troll this if you like but it is most likely you know nothing of how the military authority and justice systems operate.
