Ghandi realized that his forces could not match the British on the battle field, so he changed the rules of the battle to fit the strengths of his army. Hide under the umbrella of "non-violence".
Straight out of "The Art of War"... "Attack where they cannot defend, defend where they cannot attack."
The writers of the article made the fatal mistake of stating "you can't". Which combined with our proximity to an improbability field, means not only "you can", but that someone will. Or more likely, someone already has...
You can't conceive that anyone who might want to consider the environmental impact of anything could possibly have a valid opinion Here in California, we cannot get a transmission line from a desert solar station to a nearby city.
The problem is that most rivers of any size have a large delta area of brackish water, not a thin region of fresh/salt water.
Environmentalists would have a cow if you tried to put electrolytic plates into either a river or the ocean. They'll probably say it makes the rivers run backwards or the ocean currents to turn 90 degrees or some such thing.
It is kind of interesting though, even Tesla did some work on "magneto-hydro-dynamics". I read some stuff on thermo-magneto-hydro-dynamics a few years back.
Now if you could teach men to understand the meaning transmitted in "the look" directed at him from his wife, then you'd be somewhere.
I think my dog understands the meaning, but he either can not or will not communicate the meaning of "the look" to me. It would likely involve tearing my face off.
I find it easier to measure the "tooth to tattoo" ratio. Having been an EMT in a past life, I've observed that those who have more tattoos than teeth have a much higher likelihood of dying in an emergency room. Granted this is just a loose hypothesis based on my random observations. YMMV
Try to manage the whole work-life balance. At least until you can change your career to something where moving around a lot is part of the job. I spent three years in agriculture, and lost about 50 pounds. I'm currently taking classes for a career change to geology.
Oil on plastic works as fly-paper. Once the fly touches the oil, it cannot fly. It starts to squirm until a wing touches, then it ain't going anywhere. Soapy water works too.
A neighbor attached a 10 inch glass disk to an old style computer box fan, and it turned about 15 RPM. He positioned the disk so that it dipped into a half plastic milk carton of vegetable oil. A lamp was positioned to shine on the glass. On the first night, the tank was completely full of bugs (mostly moths), and it looked like mud.
What I want to know, is the details of the digester, what is the reaction that produces electricity. How do I make that part?
In the US, women receive more cancer screenings than any other country in the world. Their cancers are caught earlier. They receive treatment sooner. They have a higher survivability rate. Even if they don't have insurance.
Little tiny Sacramento County ( 2 million people) has more MRI machines than all of Canada. In Canada, there is no medical or pharmaceutical liability, zero malpractice lawsuits, that's about 10% of the cost in the US.
It is important to remember that the US population is about 15% Black people, and unfortunately Black men have a very high death rate to diabetes and heart disease, most die before 60. The US is also about 20% Mexicans, and they have shorter live expectancy that Caucasian people. Canada has a very high Asian population, and Asian people have a much higher life expectancy than other groups.
In the US, homeless people call 911 for a free taxi ride (in an ambulance) to the emergency room in order to warm up. I saw it myself twice while doing volunteer work in an ER.
And where do the hell do Canadians or Kiwis or British get off telling us how to run our own country?
She just doesn't happen to be a white man, which is what's really got you spooked.
Actually, I'm a very conservative Latino male. I've seen racism, and I abhor racism from all sources.
Sotomayor believes in this thing called "Social Justice", which to me means justice based on the social standing of the participants. Consider how many ways that can go wrong.
Consider the reaction if someone proposed a White Supremacist vision of Social Justice... Or a Black Supremacist vision of Social Justice. How about a Neo-Nazi vision of Social Justice. Fundamentalist Islamic vision of Social Justice?
Is it any better to to advocate a Mexican Supremacist vision of Social Justice? And remember, Sotomayor is a member of "La Raza", Spanish for "The Race", a Mexican Supremacist organization. An organization that seeks to return Aztlan (Southwest US states) to Mexico.
Anyone who says I can make a better legal decision based on my race, is a racial supremacist.
Anyone who belongs to a race based supremacist organization does not belong on any court.
An electric car will do pretty well. It can provide a good weight to horse power ratio. One of the challenges in electric cars, is battery life. Discharge a lead acid battery more than 10%, and it's life goes from years to weeks. In a race, you don't care about battery life past the race. And with some engineering, a battery swap could come down to a reasonable pit stop.
But the sex-appeal of something that does not rock the stands, or throw a flame is really low.
We prefer the term Earthicans
That's fine for creatures which are able to communicate via high pressure air waves in the range of 2kHz - 14kHz... You insensitive clod.
Heh, in my day, enemies of the US could by top-notch military technology directly from the Commander in Chief of the US military.
Ghandi was a genius, albeit an evil genius...

That's an interesting correlation.

Where, again, was the downside?
Trash and feces being washed into rivers.
I imagine it quickly converts to tent-city with no sanitation or trash pickup.
There is a little bit of poison in every medicine.
Let me know when she joins a Hispanic Superiority club
It's called La Raza, and yes Sotomayor has been a member for 20 years. http://www.drudge.com/news/121501/sonia-sotomayor-raza-member

Excuse me... Sotomayor was first nominated by George H W Bush, a.k.a Bush 41.
The preferred term is Latina, pronounced the t as th. And no, I'm actually being very serious here...
How did we get to a place where a racist is a serious candidate for the supreme court?
That thing costs how many billions, and they shut it down because of higher electricity rates?
I thought it would have its own power generators.
What's the total cost of ownership compared to the cost of power?
I guess they don't have the concept of "the cost of lost opportunity"
You forgot about the $12k battery pack replacement every 5 years or 60k miles.
Um... Stock car race?
There are many classes of racing, many of them very close to stock production with the addition of safety equipment.
However not having a top speed of 250MPH kind of takes the appeal out of it.
I have a friend that races in a mazda miata class.
But it's important to remember that a motor racing hobby is much more expensive and addictive than say Heroin.... (er maybe not quite more addictive)

So when one is in old age, they are pleased by a fluffy tickle me elmo?
Because he thought he'd make it big
No, actually, he's the kind of guy that works 14+ hours a day, never looks at his stock account, and probably does not even balance his check book.
April 15'th rolled around, and his tax man said Oh Shit...
