Given that this is explicitly illegal, and the statute provides for civil suits ( State by state laws), it sounds like there could be a rather large payday in the wings for the class of MTA riders.
at some point I completely gave up on Pascal because there wasn't any 'return' statement available in functions thus forcing ridiculous amounts of indentation.
Yeah, admittedly I haven't watched more than a handful, but I don't think any of them left me feeling anything other than that I wanted my 20 minutes back.
There doesn't have to be any patent associated with any particular language.
Patents can accrue to, among other things, "any useful method..." for X where X itself needn't be useful, and needn't be expressed in any particular language, computer or natural.
It's entirely possible, if not actually likely these days, that in the process of developing anything useful, you'll wind up re-inventing something that's already been granted a patent, however obscure.
It's not a good excuse to stop working altogether. You can at least hope that any patent has already expired or any infringement, deliberate or unintentional, will go unnoticed or unprosecuted. Worst case, you may have to pay for a license, but unless you're making a fair amount of money, that's unlikely.
The referenced netflix blog is probably the best answer you'll get...
Well, we all want diversity, don't we?
But it seems evidence in favor is lacking.
Shouldn't there be numerous success stories, even anecdotal, if it's really all that favorable?
this result not only sounds plausible, but probably also has some neurology to back it up . . .
got any specific complaints?
i use it for aol, gmail, & outlook & it suits me fine . . .
yeah, I'm that old
'nuff said.
Trump is really in a conspiracy with Hillary so that he'll get the Republican nomination & then lose the election, ensuring Hillary's presidency

Would like to know the meaning & etomology, especially if it's perjorative, please.
I'm perfectly OK with a complete ban on guns as long as we start with the military and police...
... dollar short.

or maybe I was just ignorant?
is there one now?
that the discussion here seems mostly helpful and on topic. Not the usual Slashdot nonsense.
way to go guys (& gals?) !
What is a good life?
What is the purpose of government?
What are the sources of funds for your campaign?

I really like LibreOffice, but I find it really annoying to have to pronounce it.
Should it be in the European fashion - LEE-bruh? Too hard for us lip-lazy 'Murricans.
I've taken to calling it Libber Office. Like in Women's libber. Maybe FOSS libber?
Yeah, niggling point I know - a rose by any other name and all that - but like Gif vs. Jif, it's an impediment.
I prefer the Japanese version, often heard on NHK - "Give us your like!"
... that's half pony, half unicorn.
As long as we're fantasizing, how about a "line-item veto" for the taxpayer.
Presidents have wanted this for several administrations now, but I think the power should rest with the taxpayer instead.

Yeah, I wonder how you're supposed to pronounce this: urth, urth-uh, urth-ee, gif or jif?
Then just stop developing anything, period.
There are patent issues with *everything*
What hardware could be worth that amount?
Must be a pretty big mark-up.
