    For hysterical raisins, I hate Apple more than I hate Microsoft. (This was uncalled for)

    Just like there's moolah offered to people who can find missing persons, I think GPLers must set up a fund for finding STOLEN GPL software. If we could raise a few $1M, it would already be pretty sweet, wouldn't it? Now if it turns out that MS did steal GPL'ed code, it will be a major blow to them. And I think, considering that Windows is a BIG piece of software, the odds are, GPL'ed code might have sneaked in somewhere.

    How is Napster making money exactly? BTW, I think it could be a good deal for the record companies, since even if they kill Napster, people will continue to use gnutella, OpenNap (one of the Napster server networks), etc. So their cause is lost anyway. Might as well make some money off of it.

    Sheeeet. I just had an epiphany (sp). It's not (G)Napster or OpenNap. It's not even the users. LINUX is responsible!!! I just hit the keys on the keyboard and operate the mouse. The actual copying is done by the OS and all sorts of system calls. Sue the penguin and leave me alone! I didn't do nothing.

    In fact, I didn't see any copyright notices on the mp3 files I downloaded. BTW, I never shared my files. What can they prosecute me for?

    SecT = Secure Telnet
    (I saw other people suggest Secure Telnet, just didn't see SecT yet) It's a word, it's easy to remember and it doesn't contain "Open", which kind of contradicts "secure".

    Open Source developers should have the option to release their work under the license they want.

    Since M$ declared war against Linux, maybe, in addition to GPL and LGPL, it's time we think of a license that specifically punishes Microsoft, by keeping M$ and its daugther companies from using Anti-M$ GPL'ed software?

    I don't know about the legal issues involved, but technically, you can connect to my University's news server without being affiliated with it and read/post through it. Go to university web sites near you and read the instructions for users. Most likely, all you'll have to configure will be the name of the news server (something like news.bla.edu)

    Another obvious thing to do is to use deja (no binaries though AFAIK)

    The original poster made it look like BSD developers weren't using std::string because it was insecure, while, accoring to the article, the reason they don't use C++ is because they "are not C++ programmers".

    I'm not saying that if you are an 60 year engineer who used FORTRAN all his life you should start learning C++. There's too much legacy: UNIX is written in C, numerical libraries in FORTRAN. But if everything was starting today from ground zero and you persued FORTRAN & C, I'd call a shrink for ya.
