    WOuld that mean that in the case of a contracted employee, the government is paying for FICA twice, while with direct employes, they are only paying it once?

    No way do those benefits add up to a doubling or tripling of expenditures. Show us the numbers.

    That would be so awesome if that were true, but it's not. You seem to discount, for lack of a more specific term, reality itself. Moving parts all wear and tear. People's bodies don't just work perfectly until the day they die, and they don't only wear down due to bad decisions of that person. You seem to be discounting "Shit happens".

    Lisp is not "just math", it is an implementation that must be created. Someone could have easily done the same thing with brackets instead of parenthesis. It wouldn't be the same "discovery", it would be a different invention with different syntax. [oh why oh why did i respond to this?]

    Yea. This idea obviously needs to be tabled until they develop a method to somehow transmit information across the air. Some sort of... radio waves or wifi or something. Until then, this is a dumb idea, because obviously they would have to go into the bunker and get the ball back. How stupid of them.

    Your post sorta-kinda reminds me of the many appeals to the Good Ol' Days That Never Were. You kind of want to say "we are animals, and behave as such, big fucking deal". To an extent, I agree. But you seem to have it as a foregone conclusion that there's no point in even elevating ourselves to not act like fucking animals -- and that is where I disagree.

    When my wife got shingles, I was under the impression (given to me by the doctor) that you can't get it without having had chicken pox first, as it's the same virus.
