So, if I get UnitedLinux source from Suse do I have to pay the 699 fee? What if I download it from SCO? This seems like a contradiction to their IP licensing scheme...
So how would you power such a device? Run a wire out of your mouth? Have an emf field be generated outside of the cheek and have the chip convert it? What about an antenna? Hold two fingers up at the back of your head???
Why all this talk about lawsuits?! You are not possibly going to make a big enough financial impact with a class action lawsuit to teach this company a lesson! How about jail time? As has been mentioned before...this sounds very very much like a virus. Virus writers go to jail...why not record company executives?
Why not simply use a different ftp daemon? If you know that there is a hole in wu-ftpd and a patch is not yet out...just replace the daemon temporarily with another....why wait for the patch...
Being in the Information Security department for a large brokerage house...I can speak "authoritativly" on this.
One: Why in the world would a judge be doing something confidential over the net?! If so, it should be encrypted, which the individual monitoring wouldn't be able to read anyway.
Two: Since when do people have the "right" to surf porn at work on company time on computers they don't own? I have no problems with people surfing porn or downloading mp3's...but doing it at work is just irresponsible. Besides, the judges should know the legal aspects of surfing porn at work and sexual harassment laws.
Just a couple of points I think people tend to overlook...
The DNS entry is fuckgm.com. It points to ford.com. How does this hurt Ford? GM is NOT Ford! They are competitors in the same business space. I would understand Ford being upset if it said fuckford.com...(upset being as far as they should go), but fuckgm?! I would bet that they are happy that an anti GM url points to theirs....but to show proper "business ethics" they are suing the people that just upped their press exposure. Just a thought....
I've read several comments that seem to imply that since BIND is open source that all knowledge regarding bind should be Open also. I'm not sure I agree with this. I do not agree with the "security through obscurity" mindset. I work in the information security field and know that this is not good. But also being in this field I know that there are certain trade off's w/ everything. It can be very good for certain people to know about holes before they are released to the general public so that a fix can be prepared and in place. What good is telling the world that such and such app has a vulnerability without having fix for it!? Your'e just allowing alot of people to be worried at night wondering if some script kiddie is poking at their box looking for the newly announced unpatched vunerability.
That being said...I beleive that this group should take responsibility to release the information to the public once a patch is created. Also...this does not mean that ALL information must pass through this group! Suppose I discover a new exploit. I'm not part of this member's only group and therefore am not bound by its rules and regulations. By creating this group they will inherently segregate themselves from a larger population willing to solve such issues.
Just keep in mind that this is America..just becuase somebody doesn't agree with what they are doing does not mean that it is wrong. They have the right to segregate themselves...it's up to the open source community to hold them responsible for their actions...or is it...I don't seem to remember seeing any statement from ISC that bind is warrantied in any way..nor do I remember paying to use it...it is provided for free..if I don't like it's function or polotics I don't have to use it--but that is for you to decide!

Two points on this "statistic":
1. How do these numbers imply that microsoft is racist? Are there any numbers stating how many black employees applied vs hired? Even then how many applied that were qualified?
2. What are the percentages of other nationalities at mirosoft? Are they in comparison with the statistics for the black employees? What about in contrast with nationality statistics nationwide?
rant
I'm not pro microsoft and I am anti-racist, however, I feel too many people have cried wolfe on similair subjects.

Simply use a NAT enabled proxy. They will ONLY see one system making requests, ever.
