Actually, there is a program called cmdasuser that starts a command prompt as LocalSystem. You can then run any application as LocalSystem (even the Explorer shell).
I don't think IE is part of the kernel... It's part of explorer.exe, the Windows shell. You can still run Windows (quite easily, I might add) without explorer.exe, there's just no start bar.
Well, what were you expecting? Game sequels are tradionally the same style and fun of gameplay but with refinements, improvements, and new features. If you want a new experience, play something else.
You're right. It's not like they could use the Internet for research or anything.
Not teaching children how to use computers nowadays is like not teaching them to read or write. You need to be able to use a computer because they're parts of our daily life now.
Typing up a report at school in Word and then dragging a picture into your document from Internet Explorer has streamlined the learning/work process immensely and made it easier for children to express themselves. This is a good thing.
Yeah, this is all attributable to 'the lawyers'. Those evil, faceless lawyers.
There are crooked lawyers just like there are crooked doctors, crooked judges, and crooked people. Lawyers get stereotyped as crooked because spineless sniveling weasels are simply more attracted to the law profession than any other.
Lawyers don't sue people, plantiffs sue people.
(And what's this about Ban the Lawyers? Would you rather people fought it out with guns when they had a dispute?)
Bah. Sorry about that, but I hate it when people bash on lawyers. Blame the idiots who create the lawsuits.
This is just my opinion, but I think people buy ugly PCs because when you use a PC, you/don't look at it/. Think about it: you look at the monitor (and the keyboard, if you can't touchtype). You don't/appreciate/ the tower (or flat desktop, as the case may be (sorry, bad pun)).
Sure, you prefer a nice house and work environment to one that's purely functional. So does everyone else on the face of the planet.
Or, maybe people see PCs as tools (I do. Wonderful, multipurpose tools, but tools nonetheless). Which wrench would you buy: The one that was pretty, or the one that was purely functional?
(Of course, some steps have to be taken: you can't have flashing lights and whistles on the outside of the case; you also must take some consideration to human forms with the wrench (non-slip grips, comfortable handle). But my original point still stands.)

Why not just bind a key to 'quit'?

Actually, if Apple doesn't defend the patent, they lose it, so PNG and MNG would be unharmed.

Doesn't that mess up your walls?

Yes, just like DeCSS did.
