    How come we never go after the companies who make money off of spam? The spammers are just the middle men sending advertisements out for clients no? They don't stock viagra .. ? do they? maybe that's how they pass along the great deals

    I agree. Anytime I've had to deal with authorities in this area it's on the federal level. Crossing state lines takes it right out of the hands of your local police department, at least in the rural areas. You still need to file a complaint though, and they take you a little more seriously when you give them the contact number of the federal agent who you've already reported the incident to.

    Ok maybe in the pocket wasn't the right term. I think just because the US hasn't gone around and outright conquered the world through military strength doesn't mean they're not lining the pieces up to do so.

    I would say that is exactly what we're afraid of, being afraid. I like to think that most Americans know what's going on and some subconscious trigger has been flipped, like shock, to prevent them from being deathly afraid of their government.

    Microsoft UI has always been behind the curve in my opinion. Since most people know they have to re-learn where and sometimes how to interact with each new Microsoft release why do people care what it looks like. Do default border color and a new desktop background really get peoples E.D. to relapse?

    Business and medicine are a terrible combination. Many herbal and traditional treatments do work.

    Couldn't agree more. I can't find reference to it now, but I'm pretty sure the FDA has put out a law that no herbal or natural substances can claim to cure anything on their packaging.

    They partner with providers like qwest and verizon. 87% of statistics are made up on the spot. Most of my very very large family is on dialup and I would guess that price is half the reason. The other half just don't need dialup for what they use the internet for ... yet.

    I would think for dialup, people are gonna go with AOL or MSN because those are the names out there. It's been years n years since I've used dialup or even remember seeing a local place advertise for it. The way websites are getting crazier and crazier stuffing content onto them Microsoft knows that the best way to secure future high speed users is to have them as current dialup users.

    Best Buy has been selling Linux distros for close to 10 years. They had SuSE on the shelfs for years and even had DebIan and slackware box/book combos for awhile. Every article talking about this is making it sound like linux is finally making a toehold on the shelf. Maybe this is Ubuntus shelf debut? It is definitely nothing new for linux.

    I've always lived by the rule that there are three options when it comes to programming:

    1. Cheap
    2. Fast
    3. Correct

    You can choose any two options when developing something. Guess which two my clients usually make?

    Regarding this, I agree - flamebait, article - I've only ever worked with one other female coder. Her code was the sloppiest thing I've ever gone cross-eyed staring at. Usually that doesn't matter to the clients much as long as it works, her code didn't even work half the time. With 0 lines of documentation 2 out of the 3 projects I worked with her on I ended up completely redoing her responsibilities myself.

    Do I judge all women coders by her standard? No I'm not that ignorant.

    X3:The Reunion is still in BETA, but very close to being done now as the last release is super stable without any noticeable differences with the windows client. X2:The Threat wasn't as great of a game in my opinion, but it still deserves to be on the list.
