Good lord, you have no idea what you're talking about and these poor people modded you informative?
First, you can get a loaded 965 board for like $150. Second, Conroe at stock speeds only needs DDRII-533. DDR-II 667 would allow you to use a 1:1 ratio and overclock an E6600 to 3GHz. You don't need DDRII-800, that's just uninformed nonsense. In fact, you're 180 degrees wrong - Conroe can use cheap memory, AM2 needs expensive memory.
Umm, you do know that Core Duo is a mobile part, right?
Go have a look at what overclocked Yonahs are doing so you get an idea of what's going to happen when it Conroe hits the scene. Hell, I'm tempted to buy a Core Duo now and overclock it. 4800+? Haha, right... a 2.8GHz Yonah obliterates it, on air, and it still runs reasonably cool and low power.
Wow - this is 2004 calling, we want our facts back!
The Core Duo is much better performing than the G5, and the Duo is slightly better performing clock/clock on most things than AMD's dual core processors.
It's simply a better chip than either. But hey, let your crackpot misconceptions rule your world, bro!
God, you're a fucking anti-social freaking geek, aren't you? Listen to your pompous ass, Bill Gates apparently has held a gun to the computing industry's head and held back computing!
Wow, I'm glas you can come to such a scientific and provable conclusion! You are a dipshit and a greasy nerd. Seriously, what fucking hypocrites. So into science and math, and the scientific theory on most things, but when it comes to Microsoft you just make up wild accusations and bullshit and try to pass if off as some fact everyone just knows.
My God, you are truly a pathetic nerd. He "stole" money, huh? From people who purchased his product?
It amazes me how much you usually staunch pro-capitalist suddenly turn into pathetic, sophist socialists because you like you pathetic little computer OS and hate Microsoft because everybody's not using it.
Fucking grow up, you fat greasy nerd. (Gee, ask me how I knew you were fat and greasy?)
Alas, if only your point was as trenchent as you thought it was.
In fact, what you are advocating would be idiotic..NET is a set of interfaces, class libraries, and a runtime environment. Those are fairly advanced, on par with other modern development platforms (e.g. java).
You claim the problem is they should have developed _everything_ new from scratch. This is dumb. They can do this in the future. The underpinnings of.NET are _not_ customer/developer visible.
They can get rid of all the "legacy rubbish" any time they want, it makes no sense to do it now.
Do you know anything about software development? You try to create something called 'stability'. The interface should be stable. The internal workings are free to change, _after you have a working product_.
Ahahaha. Right... I like these implicit assumptions that you and your zealot nerd cronies make.
Let's see... Microsoft played hardball with a product that they _invented_ and _defined_. It's not water, it's not air, it's not food, it's not even oil. It's a series of bits that they wrote. They _made_ it. There are countless alternatives.
And let me see further... Bill Gates is Satan and has destroyed millions of lives?
Furthermore, their "monopoly" is on intellectual property that _they_ created. It's a little like claiming McDonald's has some evil monopoly on the Big Mac, or Brittney Spears has a monopoly on "Oops, I did it again."
An OS isn't oil, it's not water, it's not air, it's not food. It's not a physically limited thing.
I've always thought the monopoly proceedings laughable for these reasons, and the rabid anti-MS sentiment sickening.
Has the "Linux community" given, as a percentage of their wealth, anywhere near what Gates has? Umm, no.
I'm actually sickened reading this whole stream of bitter replies.
"But Linux has free software for people in the health field to use!" (Has it saved well over 1/2 million people that wouldn't have been saved otherwise? Of course not.)
"But Gates made his money illegally!" (No, he didn't. You all seem to take the fact that he has bad business practices as a 'fact'. Only Linux zealots, hostile foreigners, and representatives from states with money to make or who have companies to protect feel this way.)
"I'm a complete Linux nerd, I don't like Microsoft because it's too mainstream for me - I'm _cool_." (Agreed.)
I hear what you're saying, but I think you're just making stuff up..NET is a platform. It's a set of development tools, languages, a runtime environment, supporting API, etc... Developers know what.NET is and they know how to use it.
In fact, Microsoft does more work to retain ISV's than anyone else, and that's exactly why they're successful.
While there have been failures with LCOS, there have also been some good successes.
JVC's D-ILA (LCoS) is doing very well, and JVC has been doing LCoS for a long time successfully in front projectors.
Sony's SXRD is LCoS and is going to be available in probably the best RPTV money can buy next month (supposedly). I assume it will also trickle down to their less high-end equipment late 2005 or early 2006.
The reason Intel dropped out was a failure to differentiate - who wanted Yet Another 720P television technology? They should have gone for 1080p from the start.
DLP is the dead technology, if you ask me. Who wants raindbows and headaches (or even the chance of them)? 3-chip DLP is prohibitively expensive and the only way they can hit 1080p is with "wobbulation" hacks.
Where's Animal when you need him? "NERRRRDDDDSS!!!". He would go up to this guy, wack his little glasses off his head, and throw him in a bowl of punch.
You're confused, my fellow. Most companies do not give their profits to investors.
Some companies give some portion of profits in the form of dividents. Most tech companies don't. Most of them reinvest the money, be it in the bank or in expansion.
Oh shut up. You're proposing some asinine big brother solution to a problem that doesn't exist except in the heads of pathetic, rabid Linux zealots who just hate Microsoft.
Nonsense. I've _never_ seen an American act like that, unless he was drunker than a skunk - and I've seen plenty of foreign residents behave badly.
The real problem is people like you think you're more civilized, and you somehow absorb this ridiculous view of Americans and are ashamed by it.
This view of the obnoxious American tourist is mostly a fiction, and to the extent it's true it's true of any other tourist from any other country, or it's just heard third hand from someone like you who has also heard it third hand.
Decision making is better done by the brain in it's natural state. That's what the brain does. Using this mechanism to _make_ the decision is like asking a computer to do face recognition - it takes an astonishing amount of programming and power to do something a 1 month old baby can do.
To validate a decision, however, it could be useful.
Like they care. It's kind of like the guy who gets rude service from a phone support guy and swears he'll never buy XXX again! Yeah - like the clerk gives a shit.
Grow up - Ogg Nerdvis has lost the war. It's great for personal use, but it's not going to storm the market.

I wish people would stop propogating this myth.
Beta was not "better" than VHS. VHS had several key advantages that dictated why it won.
Funny, I was going o say the same thing about your post.
Somehow people don't think you're full of shit. Amazing.
This is not insightful.

You are retarded. "Once in the life time...a couple of %"?
Try to keep up, you bitter Linux nerd. He's given billions on billions, he's done it several times, and he's given well over 30-40% of his wealth.
Exactly. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. No DRM, no content.
There's nothing to argue with about what he's saying.
OSS zealots want people to make their property "open", and don't want to provide protection mechanisms. That's akin to communism.
Microsoft provides options. They're not stopping anyone from using or not using DRM.
I hear what you're saying, but I think you're just making stuff up. .NET is a platform. It's a set of development tools, languages, a runtime environment, supporting API, etc... Developers know what .NET is and they know how to use it.

Are you trolling or are you just a run of the mill idiot?
Intel designed Centrino. It's designed in Israel, numbnuts.
They have. Look at the bottom line, AMD barely makes any money. Intel brings it in by the barrel full.
AMD is around so Intel doesn't get accused of being a monopoly.
The article is a little misleading.
While there have been failures with LCOS, there have also been some good successes.

Here's a clue for both you dumbasses: The processor component of Centrino is the Pentium-M, and it runs cool and fast.
Try to keep your idiotic cliches about hot processors up with the times.
Umm, what?
