I've been to all the levels OTS, total customization, and COTS and they all work and fail depending on if they tool fits. Most tools do not fit the requiremnts and usually create hurdles for the poor peopel that have to use them. Very often the managers and developers dont; even consult the end-user. TThen when you deploy an honestly well doen better system lots of users dont; want to change they way they've been doing things forever, they dont; want to change even if you show them that the new way is faster and easier for them and the reason is either lazyness, ignorance, or wanting to save their own jobs.

Sometimes i wish i could travel in just 4 dimensions, not more then 4, well maybe 12 or 13 could be fun and allow for me to pass light in the 500 m dash.

Alright insurance costs are higher only slightly form lawsuits what the are up from is insurance groups back when US Healthcare was kicking I knew lots of execs that did very little and pulled in a lot of money ( like 450,000 and above )...the ceo made some ungodly amount...and the clerks there were paid well also but they did most of the work was done by them and middle management. Which made (35K start (not bad back then and well not to bad now, not livable in the Philly suburbs). Think about your car insurance and how it goes up, here where I live car thefts are at a record low, law suits for car accidents have lots of reforms so you can't make much money and insurance company liability is very limited....but rates are still very high and should be going down but the insurance groups are not doing that.
Let's look at Vioxx now as Merck is another big player here. Merck pulled Vioxx not because it feared the government but because of lawsuits. The fda would prolly been satisfied with a warning label.
Story 2....botched surgery...a coworker of my dads had surgery. Something was left inside...they wanted him to pay to remove it. One insurance company sued the other...he gets screwed and has to pay a $1000 or so out of pocket, some small amount of the total cost to remove said item and is under threat from insurance companies to be sued again.
Lawyers do bear some burden, but not like the Insurance Companies

If the agreement that SCO and Novell signed indicates that, or seems to indicate copyright is transferred then SCO still got that ground. If it doesn't say that Novell sold copyrights, if they forgot and omitted a license is being sold no the work of art then it's really left interpretation.
If IBM or anyone actually stole code is another matter.
I had a similar issue when they were just delving into RISC and producing good ole x86 chips at the same time. They decided to scale back the RISC and dive into x86 and it worked out for them, they recognize the need to research both and look forward and move, although some money is lost, lessons from the Itaniums will go on even if they do die, which I doubt. Intel will do what it needs to survive and most likely stay king of the desktop market.
I have a TI-85 and I have I wanted a better calc it seemed to me that the HPs had better support no to mention the infrared communications. If I were to get a new calc and wanted a small one I would certainly get an HP..IF I wanted a huge screen the The Ti-92 and voyage 200 would be the best choices for functionality.
The best alternative would be to use Mathmatica, MatLab, or a similar program on your windows, Mac, or Linux based pc and sacrifice portability for speed and functionality and make use of the extra cycles after surfing the net.
I would liek to say teh test is unfair and biased so i can sound like most of you. Tne tes should be more standard.

3) Why don't you spend the hours you essentialy waste on this riddiculous debate by doing something constructive liek volunteering for community service or collecting stamps

To reach a basic understanding of yourself/society everyone needs to realize that human life is trivial, we have existed for a very short time and will most likely exist for a short time before reaching extinction. Furthermore as a piece of the Universe we are extremely trivial. I am not trying to downplay the importance of your life with your family or friends, if humans just realized this, we would have a better more peaceful planet.
People argue that society is non-trivial and chain effect of actions, most chain actions stop and celestial bodies are impacted on a minimal level...if you wanted to be non-trivial perhaps you could exist as a sun, comet, nebula, or some other celestial body.
I agree IE MAC was certainly moree css compliant then the windows version, but only slightly so. IE MAC is slow and slugish on most macs comapred to just about every other browser it also crashes frequently. The macs i use are top end, with lots of ram, lots of hd space and they are constamtly replaced and teh same problems persist with IE MAC. Saffari is not bad, but it's not that hot...i'm not a big mozilla fan, buty the mozilla family is tops in OS X land, it is the fastest most compliant browser i have used on a MAC.

IT folks are often looked down in many companies due to the nature of computers breaking down and being "difficult" to use. Reducing the number of bussines trips seems like it is a way to make a few more enemies in the world.
I think having a number would be cool, but there are other implications. Imagine the privacy concerns of not changing your number, I understand you could get a new number if you really wanted one, but the issue still exists. Another issues is routing of the call and how much more work this would add for the phone company that they would be willing to charge you more for. In my opinion they charge to much already.
The cost of this is not inexpensive if you consider what most indians make at a yearly level. Not to mention the cost of the phone or computer. It's a step in the right direction.

tight vnc has delivered better video and a more stable comneection for me both over a local netowrk at college and phone modems at home.

I think having a number would be cool, but there are other implications. Imagine the privacy concerns of not changing your number, I understand you could get a new number if you really wanted one, but the issue still exists. Another issues is routing of the call and how much more work this would add for the phone company that they would be willing to charge you more for. In my opinion they charge to much already.
