And you're (you are = you're) funny to me because you think you get it... but you so totally do not.

I pay for a service which is advertised as "unlimited", yet it's been proven that the provider does indeed pose a limit, but they won't tell you what it is and they won't tell you why they won't tell you (which is on the public record). Meanwhile, I have no idea if I might lose my service next month because they've changed the hidden limit... because they refuse to say what the limit is from day to day. Do you get that? Nothing on their website explains or outlines this. Nothing.

PS - Your sig is broken in a hilarious way.

You're right. We should all just shut up and deal with it (and by deal, I mean guess what they expect of us and hope we get it right).

In fact, Comcast should also apply this idea to their Cable TV business. Don't tell me how many channels I'll get for my money, just say I'll get "a reasonable number" of channels. Hell yeah, I'll buy that. In fact, don't tell me what it costs. Just send me a bill each month for whatever you think is "reasonable", Comcast.

No one can tell me and I'm beginning to suspect that's cuz the answer is "No". Word was (even on the Apple site at one time, I recall distinctly and so does Google's cache) that Leopard was supposed to run on G4, G5 and Intel. Now... I don't know any more.

The irony, if it's true and Leopard won't run on my Core Duo iMac is that it probably will run on my (older, but 64-bit) iMac G5.

And, if trying out The GIMP or other tools, know exactly where everything should be but isn't. Half a tool isn't worth even 1/4 of the price. I pay shitloads for Photoshop because there is absolutely nothing out that is a 1:1 replacement.

    As for the questioner's problems:

Do they really have to do CMYK output? Photoshop Elements will give them the tools they need for web design on the cheap (but doesn't do CMYK). Or even PaintShop Pro, if it comes to that.
If they really need CMYK support, they need to bite the bullet and buy Photoshop (they don't have to buy the whole suite).
But they could be trained in Elements, for the most part (or even use it) and then shown how to take their output into Photoshop proper for print (assuming they have at least one copy of Photoshop somewhere).

As for the mention of FrontPage... I gotta disagree. EVERYthing's better than FrontPage.
Contribute if they can't afford Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver if they can. (Frontpgae is to be replaced by Expression and it's list price is $299, so.. yeah.)

I have both a Powerbook and a Macbook Pro and my Macbook Pro definitely has the 'sparkly' screen. I noticed it straight away. My Powerbook does not. It's crisp and deep.

My MBP screen shits me to no end when I'm in photoshop or some other app where even subtle differences are an issue. Sure, consumer LCDs may not be a model of chromatical precision, but my eyes are and the LCD on my Macbook is not up to snuff when compared to my Powerbook, iMacs or LCDs. Of them all, it has by far the worst display. But... it was sold as being on par with all of the above. So "silly" is in the eyes of the beholder, so to speak.

As a 'true believer', I often cringe at Apple lawsuits because I know the right one could spell doom. But this time... I got an inferior LCD and nowhere was I led to believe it would be anything of the sort. That sucks comeplete ass.

You're well aware that there are other platforms which display high grade content and do not 'deliberately degrade' additional concurrent content simply because of DRM controls (and their taking away of a chunk of computing power). And Vista could do it too were not it so beholden to those who wish to further tighten their grip and further limit consumer use of content. The hardware certainly can handle it (good god it ought to, considering the requirements).

I watched an HD demo about a particular graphics app while running that hi-end graphics app (which includes motion video) and listening to music (I was interested in what the demo was doing, not saying) on my laptop the other day.
