  1. actually on Is Louder Better? · · Score: 1

I do think power windows and grace under pressure do sound more nice, but that's defenately not because of some clipping that occured.
When 110 samples clip, that means that I can hardly hear that within the other :
    (album is about 1 hour * 44100 samples/sec = ) 160Msamples (probably even times 2).

It is neglectible and clearly this report doesn't make much sense. Thise guy simply doesn't like the sound of vapor trials (which I partially agree too, even as a long term big Rush fan), but he's got to stay to the facts. The album is louder, but that doesn't affect the sound by itself.

Linux comes in a lot of varieties.
It's hard to find vulnerabilities that attack all distibutions and versions of the software that being used I think.
In some cases it may be possible but I think the OS community is much faster in finding and solving these problems than M$ can ever do. They can't even deal with the crashes they produce themself, why would you trust them with a more difficult job ?

  4. Re:Gosh, how many times will I have to say it on RIAA Now Targets Pirates' Parents · · Score: 1

What you're saying is that selling records just brings in more money than doing live concerts, which probably means the records are too expensive. if not, you may explain how a lot of artist getting very rich without doing many concerts.

Do you really think that making two songs is worth a life salary ? Sounds a bit like someone is paying too much money here.

I do agree on the sharing facts, but I also believe that people would buy their favourite artists records if those where just a little cheaper.
Also, people won't buy albums they don't really think it's worth having. They might still listen to that music once or twice after downloading it or listen to it on the radio. But stopping downloading won't make them buy these records.

  5. Re:Usernames!? on The RIAA's Hit List Named · · Score: 1

don't worry, this report is a fake.

Although they can trace you, the cost involved would probably be larger than their profit.
The more people who share, the more money they need to find all of these people.
Unfortunately, if they win they might even gain some from it without ever selling some music...
They might even gain money they would never even have had without file sharing. Perhaps this "legal" business brings more money to the music business than selling music in the end so I hope music become free of commercial issues and the music business gets back to it's core business : making music.

Well, about copying I can tell only one thing.
I copy MS windows : I don't want to use it, but MS made me need it to view some particular web pages and make use of some special services. I mean if they can't standardise, why should I pay for their inability to cooperate with others.
I find any reason why I should buy a complete OS for these few particular items that I need just a little too much to accept.

Unlike in the past MS can not force this down everyone's throat anymore and that's probably why it is not the success that they hoped for.
