Bring on the "Jurassic Park" references.

Its a UNIX system! I know this!!!

Thats all I remember from Jurassic Park, and I am not sure how it applies...

  2. mb = mega_bits_? on SBC Planning 15-25Mbps DSL Networks · · Score: 1

Their current estimate for down/up speeds are 15-25mb/s down and 1-3mb/s up (mega_bits_, not bytes)

Oh. I thought they were measuring this new dsl in millibits for a minute. If it were telstra (the infamous Australian ISP), I wouldn't have been suprised if they were :)

Converting objc -> c is trivial -- There are a number of objc -> c converters.

Actually I think that might be how most of the compilers actually work :)

So if you like Objective-C and would rather code in it... you can!

And in word processors, after you write your paragraphs of text which are supposed to be all caps, you can cycle the different capital options (all caps, first letter caps, no caps iirc). It's Shift-f3 in MS Office) if I am not mistaken.

Otherwise, if you want that functionality on a keyboard, there should be a "font" key, and a "center-align" key and a "kill clippy" key.

  6. What about Duke3D on Evil Dead Game Sequel Confirmed By Bruce Campbell · · Score: 3, Funny

Didn't 3D Realms make an Evil Dead game called Duke3D?

Well okay, it wasn't Evil Dead, but it had more than enough quotes from it ;)

    So did "Blood" iirc.

I imagine they would have a limit on the size of each email, even if they can add up to 1GB.

Which means your free unlimited supply of storage would be a pain in the arse to do anything with.

Thats one of the most difficult to read things I ever saw :)

    Grr, slashdot is too Sol-centric...

Perhaps Slashdot can set up a few scripts that wget -m a linked site, and mirror it locally for a few days?

Sure, that doesn't help for dynamic content, but generally, linked websites don't have dynamic content.

I dont see what the problem with mirroring sites would be? archive.org does it, as does google, so I guess website owners don't really care if their sites are mirrored, as long as their copyright notice remains intact.

  12. Would it be too much to ask... on International Space Station Turns Two · · Score: 2, Insightful

This is supposed to be a reasonably technical site after all, and most other countries did away with imperial measurements years ago.

Its people like you that get mars probes crashed.

Dont get me wrong, i like SETI
but SETI@HOME is silly i think, when there are more important things to do. How about we apply some global computing power to getting INTO space, rather than wasting it listening to millions(?) of stars?
