    what i mean by that is that it doesn't scale for the individual, the technology does scale.

    It is far too easy for people to get in contact with me via email. My time is wasted reading their junk, and this includes corporate spam as well. We can try lots of technical solutions, but i think i'll go down a subscription model.

    You paypal me a dollar a year and i'll whitelist your email address, otherwise, go away. A few trusted friends and family get whitelisted for free.

    Averaging only reduces random error giving you a more precise result. It doesn't help with systematic errors and therefore not necessarily a more accurate result.

    Accuracy being closeness to the bullseye and precision being the grouping of the shots.

    Passwords should be replaced by large blocks of random ascii characters. Simply cut and paste it into a password field, or have the login process read from a USB drive in a specific location to "unlock" the application or system.

    The password is then just an access key. People understand keys. They know what to do when they lose them, they know not to give them to other people, they know not to copy them and they can't read them out over the phone.

    The key store should be privileged, it's like going into someone's pocket or wallet, the system should require explicit user action or confirmation before the keys can be read.

    It has banked turns to help keep you on the road at speed, and I believe the road materials are thicker and more greatly reinforced for strength, and better for tires to grip the road.

    They are concrete and tarmac, just like most other motorways, and I haven't seen many banked turns.

    The motorways in the UK for example are as well or better made and maintained, with longer acceleration and deceleration lanes for joining and leaving, better barriers, cats eyes. In fact, I think the UK motorways are generally superior to the German ones, but much slower speed limit.

    Are the same on the restricted and unrestricted sections. Speed is not the problem, and they do pass at 150mph.

    I would dispute the "and a lot of unskilled people simply not driving" statement, the autobahnen are regularly packed solid here in Germany just as they are in the US.

    Yes, we do. Here, you may if you wish take your car up to whatever it'll manage. The passing lane is commonly, 150mph+.

    Funnily enough, accidents are no more common than on motorways of any other country, not only that, accidents are no more common on the unrestricted sections than the various restricted sections, and the lane discipline is a damned sight better. Why would you want to do 150mph? Well, your journey takes half the time going at 70mph, why don't you try 30mph or 15mph instead, why not walk.

    Evidence that this reduces the number of computers people need?

    If the thesis were remotely valid, the number of computers would be decreasing, not increasing. What in fact happens is called Jevons Paradox. As the speed goes up, the cost does down and the number of applications of computers increase. More computers are required.

    Really? You mean, as computers get faster you *might* need fewer of them?

    No really. Please provide evidence for the thesis that as computers get faster, people need fewer of them.

    Second point. It's usually the I/O performance anyway. A 12 core server is unlikely to be able to push as much throughput as 3 quad cores, given the same I/O technology.
