How about this one. We know that a black hole is a macroscopic object that acts just like a quantum particle.
Suppose that when the universe was 'young' before the phase shift to matter as we know it (protons, electrons, etc) there was a universe with a simmilar level of granularity that supported life, 'solar systems', gallaxies of a sort, and that they all collapsed into black holes, which then became the building blocks for our atoms, gallaxies, etc.... The universe could be going through another phase change.
I took Latin for 2 years in High School. It was great. My prof was in china after WWII helping with the reconstruction. I learned alot of Japanese in that class.
I've seen an actress (famous but I don't recall her name) who professes to have used this 'see clearly method' to dramatically improve her vision and her son's.
Is this a possible alternative? Even if it's not, how effective is this? Over the past 4 years, living in front of the computer, I've noticed a degradation of my vision. I want it to stop!
Try Babylon 5... They did a good job with most of the ships.
I noticed the gally/lounge looks bigger than most of the boat, and that it's laid out like a regular kitchen (ie:sudden maneuvers send stuff flying!) They should have had a sailboat designer on staff.
First, tell them it can't be done with current technology, but start working on it immediatly.
Multiply all work estimates by a factor of 4, then tell them it's 'iffy'.
Ignore their spec, write your own as generic as possible. When they change it 1/2 way through, you bitch and moan, then write the gui that will give them what they want.
They never claimed to do that. Infact, this seems like nothing more than a variant of the 'group velocity' stuff in your average modern physics class. While this is interesting, please try not to mislead with the article title.
"I hope that RedHat successfully forces both Gnome and KDE to become compatible with one another which would result in the creation of a single desktop. This would be the greatest gift to the Linux world."
Sounds alot like Microsoft. One of the reasons I LIKE Linux is my free range of choices.
I hate to say it, but most of what I remember seems to bear this out. Professors who should be fired aren't. If you're new, you're, well, in shark infested waters. One prof and I had many conversations about who had the most 'candy' to give to the dept. Apparently this 'candy' could take the form of new papers, grants, general status etc. Acedemia is as bad or worse than the private sector politically.
"if our charges weren't true, NASA wouldn't bother answering them' they'll snivel"
Right, There's something to that though. If I were NASA I'd say, "Whatever man, If you want to be a dumbass, go ahead. I have rockets to launch."
(I was on the ASU Sat1 team. && !(I know what I'm talking about))
Go to radio shack! Buy all your parts there.
If you're a farmer, build it in the pig pen. If you're not a farmer, find a farmer.
If it can work under those conditions, it can work anywhere.
I want a really fast word processor. I'm sure that's all it's good for. Right?
Finally a REAL answer!
The "We're all in a black hole." is a neat idea.

Thoughts?

In my 400 level 'intro to graphics' the professor REQUIRED that we use MS Products for developement.
Several weeks later after ~50% of the class wouldn't be quiet about it, he said he'd allow any language, but no others were supported by the TA.
The following semester he continued to allow any tools/language, but only 'supported' M$.
You bastard! That's what I was going to say!
Dude,
What? Give the guy a break.

Just hope they don't store the copy on IBM 75GXP drives.

Ok, we have Toy Story and Buffy....
The rest are... blech!!!!! Good ideas that suffer from Lucas quality execution. I only hope this story goes beyond the formula it's built on.
Fox should have picked up Farscape.....

What the hell has happened to this site?
"his "performance" in Much Ado About Nothing was embarrassing"
Yes, much ado, about nothing.
Christopher R. will prob. never be equaled. I'd be happier with a virtual actor than anyone breathing.
It looks like their warranty will at last reflect the quality of their products.
Is WD the last holdout for quality drives?
1. Navy seal Phillips screwdriver, medium size.
2. Customers wallet.
Fixed ratio of H2 released to CO2 released.
I suppose no one, or thing, would have been interested in consuming the Glucose before it completely degraded... (cows, cats, ants.... uhuh)
"What's wrong with plain old Mt Dew? It did represent 80% of my intake by volume from age 15 to 22."
Sorry, Mtn Dew tends to retard genital growth. It's the Yellow dye #5.
I found out @ 16. Too bad, I really liked the stuff.
Northwest and United are 2 airlines I would avoid flying @ all costs. The service is horrible!
A good, friendly airline (that won't try to read you mind) is SUN Country.

I'll back it up. I had CHM114 not 3 years ago.
