    Anything over a 100 lines (and much under) can be incredibly hard to read for non-authors of the code. Especially if depreciated stuff is being used.

    It's probably why a LOT of people and biz are going to python instead. Reading it does not make your eyes hurt.

    The OS X version of Virtual box does not support (yet) any of the processor specific virtual machine extensions that speed things up considerably.

    I mean, it's not like the government is spending real money. Most of it's borrowed anyhow. Might as well just buy what we can since the U.S. will default at some point.

    If they try end to end encryption somebody will invent a "hood" to put over the front of an HDTV to capture it, and within a couple of generations of development I'd bet the resulting copy will look great.

    Why would they need to do that? Connect a modem to the serial port of the hardware and they can dial in to fix the router.

    The only things that can't be outsourced (yet) are stuff that needs physical presence. Who knows, maybe your sysadmin might end up being a walking robot remote controlled by a low paid worker in china.....

    There is nothing wrong with science at home IF HE followed all the regs about how you store and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials. If on the other hand he had stuff there he was not supposed to have, or stored in dangerous ways that are against the law then it's quite acceptable to have the law come in and make things right.

    I've seen houses go up in flames because of what people have stored in their garage and basement.

    Not if you are using SELinux that is properly configured, in which case the access controls are set at the level of the applications security context.

    Not saying that it's perfect, but it would help and I'm sure that is where most OS's are going to head in the future.

    If they want to do it, they could. You just sit people down, write checks out by hand and give them to people (obviously recording the checks in a ummm...ledger)

    Although people will try to over complicate things, it's a simple of matter of expending more energy than you take in.

    How you accomplish that is up to you, but there is no mystery to losing weight. The mystery is finding something that you can keep doing on a regular basis.
