To maintain such a gender balance, you'd have to hire some coders who are sub-par. I'd prefer to have the best. If it means more men work for me then women, so be it.
And that didn't work. It's like GCC 3.2 didn't install at all (probably all those errors). Oh well. Thanks for the help anyways. I'll have to work on this for a while. Might rejoin one of the area LUG mailing lists.
I'd say yes. At least I'd be interested in this sort of project (although I'd probably download and install/maintain it myself as I have no cash-on-hand) for re-designing and running my ezine (http://megaversal-dispatch.rpgcn.homelinux.org).
Well, I've ATTEMPTED to upgrade, but after I've installed gcc 3.2.1 core and gcc 3.2.1, I re-ran./configure and got the same message (I also got a bunch of errors during make and make install). Next time I go through it I'll make sure to capture all the output (errors included) into a text file and post them on the i-net.
I was compiling Perl 5.8 when I found these funny little tidbits:
From Perl 5.8.0's./Configure: "Checking to see how your cpp does stuff like catenate tokens... Oh! Smells like ANSI's been here. We can catify or stringify, separately or together!" "You have POSIX termios.h... good!"
Gimp 1.2.3 was no less immune:
checking for intelligent life... not found
Both were found during the./configure stages of compiling the source.
I'm running RedHat Linux 7.2 out of the box, most of the updates are security updates (e.g. if there was no RPM release/update for an RPM package, I don't have it unless I've removed the RPM and installed from source). Here's the output when I run./configure:

You are not using a supported compiler. We do not have the time to make sure everything works with compilers other than the ones we use. Note for gcc 2.96 users: Some versions of this compiler are known to miscompile mplayer and lame (which is used for mencoder). Well, no matter. I registered when I turned 18, and sometime between then and now (thanks to the U.S. Treasury Department) the gov't thinks I'm deceased.
On occassion I have the notion to make that an accurate listing of my current status.
Oh yeah? Then why is it if you DON'T register with Selective Service (you only have to maintain registration until the age of 26) you either get a $250000 fine and/or 5 years in prison?
How about that, they can do more then treat cancer patients (when I was diagnosed at 16 with synovial soft tissue sarcoma, Vanderbilt Universtity Medical Center Children's Hospital treated me).
Not only does the government know where, when, and how far you drive, but taxes you for driving (and everything else, such as breathing, living, etc.)!
I'm hoping they were just trying to be funny (and I did find it funny). If the person is simple, gods help us all.
What we should do is equalize the gender balance,

That would be nice, too.
:-)
If they do, I have a PayPal account already.
I don't care. My entire cd collection except for about 3 or 4 cd's were bought in that period of time.
Thanks, I'll try that.

In particular, look at how Bugzilla has helped the Mozilla project.

From what it sounds like, though, he'd have to print all documents to distiller (in winblowz) to use that in all the files he'll be working with.
Amen to that, brother! lol

I can compile GIMP in about 30 minutes or so on my PII 300MHz w/ 128MB RAM
The only problem now is installing updated versions of GCC.
over night? LOL Fuck that. It's SOOO not worth it.
first you have to have updated versions of GCC. Figures RedHat wouldn't put out any RPM updates for their users.
And there you go. I am not going to wait a whole damn week for one program to compile properly.
Fine, you come over to my place and set up Wine.
.mov files? Interesting.

Isn't it a shame, though?
Oh well. You can thank my doctors and my parents for that one. Rest assured if I'm ever diagnosed again I will be refusing treatment.

Some database.
I'm nervous they're gonna reinstate the draft...
They already did, it's called selective service.
