This is an incorrect statement. Americans (and honestly, the general public worldwide) never had a great understanding of climate (or any) science. Many people who accept global warming are just as scientifically illiterate as those who reject it. Just because you are right about something doesn't mean understand it.
But the point still remains that the government is forcing you to pay money in order to be allowed to exercise a constitutional right. If I have absolutely no money to spare (but already own a gun and ammunition), then am I just too poor to have that right?
Except I don't need to take a class, or even have a license, to drive a car on private property, only public roads. Also, driving is not a constitutionally guaranteed right.
So if I can't afford to pay for a class, then I essentially am not allowed to exercise my second amendment? Would you also suggest requiring people to pay for a class to learn about how out electoral system works, and showing that you are up to date with current events in our government, before you get a permit that allows you to vote?
This is a clever idea. After all, now they are potentially getting money from deep corporate pockets, while at the same time giving their customers a bit more. Seems like it might be a win-win for AT&T.
That's a very big jump from "They don't want to have to pay for their employees' contraceptives" to "They are making it difficult for people to have large amounts of sex".
"No taxation without representation". Do you honestly want there to be an official Christian or Catholic party running for government offices? Either tax churches and let them be completely involved in government, or don't tax them and keep your "separation of church and state".
Choose wisely...
Except that a problem arises when you view an unborn child as a human being, and then an abortion means ending the life of another human being. This is not the case with adultery, prostitution, violent pornography, or smoking pot. It is a far more complicated issue.
...but one day they might decide they are, and there is nothing in place to stop them from doing that. Does President Obama really not understand why people are outraged? And no, you don't really have a system of checks and balances- you have the illusion that you do. What happens when people in the NSA does something wrong/unconstitutional? Do they get fired? Arrested? I didn't think so.
I've done that with cardmember services. after about 10 minutes I explained I didn't even have any debt, and I was just wasting their time, and any time they wanted to call me back I would be happy to waste more of their time. The man with the Indian accent said a few choice words, which I laughed at, and then hung up. That was the last time they ever called me, and that was at least 6 months ago, if not more.
You are confusing whitelisting and blacklisting. If you are whitelisting, it won't matter what number the scammers call from, it won't be accepted unless it is a pre-authorized phone number. Any number not on the list gets rejected.
Go is a far more ancient game than chess, and lacks many of the problems as cited above with Chess. I mean granted, one day Go will be considered a "solved" game, but that is a long ways off.
...In a sense, when we agree to pay for home internet service, we are saying "your prices are acceptable". I bet if we had enough people refusing to pay what it currently costs for internet access, you would see companies suddenly dropping their prices in order to get the customers they need to sustain themselves. However, knowing the under-40 population of this country, I am going to be told I am insane and it is impossible to live without internet access.
While this is certainly an interesting idea, and one that I would have to think about for a while before forming an opinion on, you will find that a large number of people will simply see this as class warfare. Maybe it would be better to simply have it so that if you pay federal taxes, you get a single vote in federal elections (same with state taxes and state elections). This way the 1% doesn't control 90% of the vote, but you still avoid people voting without having contributed to society.
Just because it doesn't explain why, but merely predicts that how it will, doesn't make it "voodoo". Newton's law of universal gravitation doesn't explain *why* gravity happens, it merely shows that you can predict *what* is going to happen.
Hypoxia is the most humane way to kill someone. It is painless, and actually somewhat euphoric before the person simply passes out, never to wake up. We should switch to that if we are going to continue to support death sentences.
Yeah, but the problem is very few public school science classes are worth their salt. Very rarely do students actually learn critical thinking skills.
What I don't get is why people who are experts in cosmetics are talking about stars...

*Catholic church's Most Christian churches, especially non-Catholic, have little to no issue with birth control or contraceptives

You youngsters and your new board games. My kid will only be allowed to play Go, Backgammon, the Royal Game of Ur.
The problem with the NSA program is not the money, it's the severe overreach of the federal government.

"Oh sweet, the government bailed us out after we ran our company in to the ground! We are a shining example of the free market!" Oh the irony

Is it sad that I read that quote in my head using Leonard Nimoy's voice? Time to lay off civ 4 for a while...

What about the 4th Amendment? This is a matter of national importance, damnit! We don't have time to let your petty rights get in the way.

Just make sure the questions are asked orally, in both English and Spanish.
