I just think we should burn down their HQ and assinate the CEO and the board members.

Yeah, but that is not what broadband is about. The whole point of broadband is to transfer large amounts of data fast, ie movies, music and gaming. If the ISPs are in the broadband business only for E-mail and web-surfing, they are in the wrong business. You dont invest millons of dollar in highend network equipment and only make use 10% of the available network resources, that pure stupidity.
Well the answer to that question is spelled greed, for record industry its never enough, they always want more. The same goes for some of the artists, why earn only $1 milion for a album then you can earn $10 milions. So theres no reson to cut CD prices from $20 to $5 even if they easily could do. They will continue to rip off the consumers as the only thing they do care about is the money flow and increasing profits. At a certain point the consumer will stop and say ENOUGH!. Greed will kill RIAA and the big record companies, P2P and CD burning is the sword that will cut the head of the beast.
Yes, The whole point of Evolution is to steal corporate desktop-users from Windows/Outlook to the Linux/GNOME/KDE world. Thats why it mimic the outlook GUI to extreme. I like the outlook interface, its nice and a joy to use and work with.
Generation X, Born in 76, earning $10.000-$25.000 a week by shorting stocks and trading stock/index options and futures, beside working as an UNIX System Engineer. Targeting my first milion before I'm 30. Four years more to go:-)
Just object to increasing the version number to get good a press/news buzz about a 3.0 number. You need to have enouge changes to deserve a dump of the major number. Stupid? yes, I have been doing Linux kernel hacking for 3 years aswell as Solaris and HP-UX kernel hacking, been involved in the GNOME project for 4 years and done hardcore UNIX development for over 10 years. Sure I'm stupid..
All bandwidth that are not 100% utilized are a waste. That means if you have 2mbit/s ADSL or cable, for every second you are not sending/receiving 2 Mbit/s you are wasting resources. The same goes for the longdistance WAN links. So its not stealing, only use of unused resources that otherwise would be wasted. Most people are only using 1% of their internet link, so its only good to give other people access to your bandwidth thru WiFi aslong as the AP is setup in a secure way.
It may be expensive, but buying two 160 GB disk is more expensive. Cheapest 160 GB on Pricewatch is Maxtor for $235 each. So you will save alot of money by buying one single 320 GB disk. Plus you will save power and space too and decrease heat inside the tower case.
RIAA is like a hawk that wants to protect its food while a bunch of ants are trying to carry it away.:)
Anyhow, RIAA will fight with legalization and lobbying until the last drop of blood, becouse it's about their survival, and they have gotten too fat, too lazy and greedy to lower their CD prices. They could slice prices in half and earn bilions anyway if they wanted. But they want 200 bilions of profit insted of 100 bilions.
They will die like a dinosaur if they do not adapt to the new environment, Thats the way Darwin's theory of evolution goes. And it fits the business/tech world well.
Yes I understand the point, but there are a single core "light" version that are used in IBMs low-end UNIX server line and workstation line. Ofcouse it wont be compatible with the PowerPC architecture used by Apple and others.
Why not use the proven high-performance IBM power4 design instead. Why design something brand new that will have "less" performance that the already existing 64bit single/dual core power4 design. I dont see the point, looks like a big waste of money and resources.
I would'nt hold my breath waiting for one of these. Can sniff the vapour all the way from Finland. Give us the real sh-t that we can put into our computers and benchmark.
True, the only things I need and use is gcc, vi and make, but gdb and ddd comes handy sometimes then you have to track down some nasty bug that causes coredumps. Highlevel debug tools is good, sometime in the future they may help you.
vi and gcc are my two top favorite applications that I love to use.

Yes you lose time consciousness, the realworld just disappears then your brain get into this meditative state and after its like waking up from a dream or trip.
I use to get into this then I'm alone at home (at work theres alot of disturbing noices like phones and light and people running around so I dont get into this full state then coding at work, only for very short periods until you are waken up by a phonecall or a colleague) in long coding or gaming sessions that lasts for hours. You dont even feel any hunger or need to go to bathroom, its just like the brain turns off these feelings.
Its a real pleasure to be into the "flow", Thats one of the reasons I love to write code. Being creative and 100% focused, everything just fly forward and gets right, like a artists brush on a white canvas. You just visualize it in your head and push it out on the canvas or the text editor.
Actualy what keeps them live is the bugs, they get their revenue from selling updates, they always has from the very beginning of DOS. So its understandable that they do not care much about bugs (including security bugs and improving the OS concerning security) and fixing them. They put more focus and energy into adding new features to the OS so they can sell new versions of the OS easier.

Imagine the look on face of the people sitting in the tube screaming then all the air rushes out of the tube and everyone is suffocating to death.
Why wont prices on CDs and DVDs go down?

No, thats just commercial mainstream trash music to rip teenagers of their hardearned cash to make RIAA and the recording CEO's rich.
Norah Jones is quality, pure quality.

f**k 3.0, give us 2.6 and contuine the same path with 2.7, 2.8, 2.9 until we reach 3.0. Big jumps in version numbers sucks bigtime.
Uh, Windows started at version 1.0, I have run 1.0 on an old IBM XT machine. there are also Windows 3.10 which was relesed before 3.11
Good plan, just make sure to jump ship after step 3 and let some freshman CEO take over the company.

What I understand they will be able to dynamicaly create their language. While in Sims the language is staticly predefined by the developers.
