    Have you seen the corresponding binaries size? Anyway, what would it prevent the new binaries accepting both names, and the old and new syntax? Or writing wrappers (not the best idea, but then...)
    The old ones are *still* there...for now. They are just not installed by default.

  8. Travelling back in time to do that would be more effective.

  9. Since when netstat or ifconfig are "performance hogs"? You just use them on the odd occasion, or maybe every couple of minutes.

  10. disable all ICMP is not feasible as you will be disabling MTU negotiation and destination unreachable messages. You are essentially breaking the TCP/IP protocol. And if you want the protocol working OK, then people can do traceroute via HTTP messages or ICMP echo and reply.
    Or they can do reverse traceroute at least until the border edge of your firewall via an external site.

  11. I can pretty much assure you I am *non native*, and do not live anywhere near an English speaking country.
    Nonetheless, a guy that does not understand English, well, he wont have a problem either. He pretty much wont understand it as the rest of the text.
    What next, do you want to obliterate Shakespeare works, because a non native won't understand them?

  12. Bah. I reverse engineered the Novell Login program back in the day. Wrote virus-like tech hidden on the PC that intercepted the Login and password requested transparently, and saved the combo to an encrypted file. Had lists of username/passwords of nearly 300 users. In the end, I was not smart to no brag to the wrong persons about it, and also made a few stupid mistakes. If it were today, would be expelled.

  14. So they just bring out a politically correct tool to pretend they do something about controls...
    How about new tools to filter out or in stuff by categories? For instance, I only use my private youtube for IT related things...or then give me different views I can select at will, like the IT view and the music view.
    Youtube without logins does not interest anybody, only trivia popular trash.
    Also listening randomly to music is virtually impossible any song marathon will converge itself to trash like Meghan Trainor.
    Please do something useful and give me more controls were I can define IT+no music+no football

    It is called having a backbone, which is rare nowadays.

  24. You could always have some s_ex once in a while.

  25. Lets suppose I am building a coffee shop in my neighbourhood and been running it for a short while.
    The neighbours actually where extra nice when I was putting it all together:
    - the carpenter gave me tables and chairs;
    - the lady next door gave me very good-looking curtains and napkins;
    - the baker offered me bread for free for the first couple of months;
    - some neighbours also been helping running the shop in their spare time.

    Business has been better than never, and I have got a lot of customers!
    What should I do now:
    Offer discounts for all the neighboors OR
    Has I heard other businesses businesses were doing:
    "We particularly welcome people from other neighboords in this establishment, the farthest away the better. Free bread and reserved seats for them."
    What is your advice?
