    It really depends. If you live in a country with repressed socialist tendencies in politics, and communist tendencies in morals, the gov will try to rob money from people with external signs of money. Apparently, as the main targets are the middle class, and not their cronies, the easiest way to do that is tax through the nose all car owners, in gas prices, regular "inspections", insurance, and "eco" costs.

    I would say they tend to be info phobic when it comes to Australia. I remember pretty well the jobs adverts being for novell well when I was using Linux for some at least a decade, and many people being into Windows 2k in the rest of the world.

    TRS-80 had Xenix, not Unix. Yes, I used Xenix in Intel 286 CPUs....

    My dad gave me a ZX Spectrum with a Z80A back in my 15 year-old anniversary, summer time, learned BASIC till December with books and in December started programming the darn thing in assembly. From there, learning gw-basic, pascal and C in technical school was a breeze, and learnt x86 assembly on my own. Later on did as my thesis the first ZX Spectrum emulator for Windows.

    Usually ro mounts are not a good sign....Corruption and/or hard disk failure. Google a little around how to optimize Linux and FreeBSD for virtual environments.

    The problem is not as so much as systemd being the "default". The problem is in upgrades or installations, being forcefully "upgraded" or having systemd installed without recourse or choice. Lets see if pinning will keep on working in Debian 10...

    I fixed it far better installing pinning systemd to -1.

    Would you care to elaborate on there? I have seen proponents of systemd extolling the properties of systemd and the cloud. Now why an embedded proponent would prefer a more complicated system somewhat escapes my understanding.

    Never understand open offices besides saving costs, never will. We have worked in the same room with people that was openly hostile for us, so sharing work is a myth. And if I need some urgent collaboration, I make some exercise leaving my office, and getting to a workmate office.

    You surely are joking. I have work related emails and I am not reading following them 100% of the time. My co-workers have my phone numbers and more importantly my chat account, in which I prefer to be contacted far more, as a phone call is much more intrusive and can and will annoy my wife.
