The accounting deletion fee reeks of extortion and is contrary to the law of some countries. Here, if I demand to be wiped out from some database, whatever the line of business, they are obliged to comply.

If you say so. I had a poly friend, and the amount of mind games and control he used to exert on his "wifes" was mind numbing. The relationship went south when he asked me, no (tried) to order me into specific behaviours as a friend, and to isolate one of his possible future mates. Nice people bah. There are nuts in all walks of life.

This is very easy to circunvent. A couple of paid "profiles" just talk with you and try to entice you...even if they do not met you. You see, you just did not want to have it, no $200 for you. meh

It is not only the creation of fake profiles. I hope they uncover people paid to pose as interested parties to make you go from trial to paid user for instance. When I was single and in a country where the majority of people did not interest me as a partner, I opened a profile in a site for singles, and sure enough, in the first week I had some a couple of women seeking to talk with me, but the data did not compute. The race, the name and their tongue when you considered them together did not compute. The kicker was that for you to sustain a dialogue with them, you add to upgrade from the "free" profile to the paid one. Most of the sites do that...

Many offices are using also open source tools. Anyway, the problem of teaching tools instead of methods is that by the time they reach the market, people have moved to other tools. And anyhow, if one is only using tools at school and not investigating alternatives and doing small gigs at home...he is doing it wrong.

I have notice that generally freemium games for kids, and some for adults even have insidious ways of making you pay (i.e. not the first time I reach the payments menu without really wanting to do it). And between having a kid playing and that, they are very strong reasons to disable in-app payments.

Some cable companies here are already a step ahead of that, and provided with you with VoD services. The movies à la carte are paid, however the TV full programme of the last 7 days can be watched for free at will. The mobile apps are also free and work quite well, even better than the cable box. It is my opinion they won't go the mandatory TV route, they will either slap a mandatory tax on every Internet or utilities service and/or will stop by law unlimited usage and cap it to levels where it is not sustainable to watch video every day.

I was thinking how to put it, and frankly you it the nail here. If some game allows me to play for a while, but then the game basically halts until you buy something, and that was exactly stated upfront (i.e. you only allow you to play x levels), I feel cheated and go away. Now, for instance, I think sentinel got it right, for instance. It allows to play me as much as I want and either I get things like stronger weapons through (a lot of) grinding or I go the faster route and I pay for them. I think it is fair, everyone has to make a living.
