    Desktop is OS/X for me. Gave in iPad to my dad, he is delighted and does not pester me anymore with computer problems...Not very found of Linux/OpenBSD on the desktop, albeit it is better than the alternative.

    indeed, we server people will migrate to other pastures if the systemd insanity goes ahead. I am just awaiting for FreeBSD 10.1 to start doing more serious testing. And I think many agree with me the strength of Debian is not exactly desktop support.

    Is there? I loved the ZX Spectrum as teenager. I know the Z80 processor in & out. Heck, as my thesis I wrote a computer emulation for it. Would I want to deal again with a clunky 8-bit machine connected to a TV and deal with loading tapes for 5 minutes, or retry the load 3 or 4 times before getting it right? No freaking way. The only thing that stands on a retro computing business is that is far more convenient to deal with emulators on modern hardware.

    ICMP is *data* last time I checked, and not necessarily done by your provider. Are you doing peer-to-peer every day? Even then, yes, nowadays I am seeing far more ICMP network scans. A lot. Will measure it. But then again, ICMP are not "headers", it is certainly valid traffic. We are talking about 300MB per day, or 12MB per hour. Truth it I used to see scans using up to 300 BYTES per hour 1 decade ago. Will measure it nowadays....

    Dont ask...we had a fantastic team of System administrators here that fortunately when one left the other had the good sense of leaving too, that installed EVERYTHING they could into the servers. The Windows servers had Office, and Linux servers had 30-40GB of software.

    Dont say nonsense. headers are just around 10% of traffic at most, and yes, they do count. After all it is traffic anyway.

    No, most casual users install just any shit, anytime, anywhere. Even in shady sites for watching "TV" or "films" they installs "codecs", or "antivirus" offered by any page at all, even if they are searching for p0rn.

    I do know how will they pay without increasing fees. I am using 200-300GB of Internet per month, and I pay around 20-30 euros of Internet... it is easy to do the math, the tax would be 180 dollars.
