    I gave up on RH somewhere around RH 7.0 where they fucked up badly gcc and glibs. RH also patches heavily a lot of things, always had. Nevertheless, got used to Debian, and, after RH, Debian is one of the hot items in the market. I have done versions upgrades LIVE and even with some nasty hacking, migrations LIVE from 32 to 64 bits.

    I would like to remember people Ubuntu uses a base for the next releases Debian unstable, as far as I remember...I had a couple of Ubuntu servers in the past and got badly burnt, it just reinforced my opinion that Ubuntu is only for desktop and Debian for servers.

    Debian stable is certainly more stable than many distros out there..much more.

    The news and the fine is beyond retarded. Cisco, Meru and possibly other players have had the functionality of deauthenticating nearby APs to not allow their use and thus protect your network from interferences. There has to be rules, as wifi technology has a lot of problems.

    yeah, and by the early 90s was a piece of garbage. I remember fairly well using from DOS in XT to several Unix variants, later (or not so later) on more potent hardware, including SCO V.

    I see you are not used to download subtitles. While I agree entirely with you in the theory part, however thats how many prominent sites are delivering them nowadays. Maybe because they often put there extra file with credits, and more rarely, multi-language subtitles packs.

    The "niche market" is a myth and forgetting history. OS/9 had a lot less margin of adoption and market, however as it was a shitty OS, had as much or more viruses than the alternatives. As far as I remember something in the line of 30 000 viruses as much as I recall.

    And to get it you have to be fairly dumb. Fake sites for subtitles that just propagate your google query to "match" the name of the film you are search, and instead of giving you a zip with the subtitle, return a dmg file. But then, you have to click on it, click to install the binary, and give a password....So as I say you have to be pretty stupid to install the malware yourself.

    I have a clue, I am European, and I am laughing at you karmasock. The rest of the world sees Americans as bigoted, ignorant, prepotent, belligerents and fear mongers. Literacy rates do not mean squat, we have here a 99% or so literacy rate, and I cannnot recall the exact values, but a huge chunk of them are functionally illiterate, cant read a newspaper properly, and even more drawn out their conclusions. And your knack to select presidents in which the next is stupider than the former is something to be scared off. What will be the next idiot on the White House, Kerry, Sarah Palin, or Hillary?

    i also hated them being slackers, when i lived in africa, however it is also got a twisted or orwellian explanation...besides the ignorance, when you know you are being exploited to the core, and only receiving peanuts/handouts for hard work, and hard work wont get you pretty much nowhere, there is not much incentive to be a productive member of the society.

    The others are always a scapegoat when the elites are corrupt to the core, and steal everything they can get their hands own, and could not care less about a squalid and ignorant populace. And many of them, can look civilised, however their culture still has a whole lot to go to reach our standards. It should be already the time to man up, solve problems, and not black the "colonists".
