"snow white" is still public domain. so is pinnochio. What isn't public domain are the seven dwarfs happy through dopey, jimminey cricket, and others. These are new characters that Disney created. you're free to make your own pinnochio XXX or whatever you want to do.
Note that the original snow white had seven dwarfs, but they didn't have names. you can't use the Disney names.
There's little ghg impact to eliminating corn ethanol. It's so energy intensive to produce and there are big impacts from indirect land use change. The climate change champion in me says yawn. Cellulosic is much more exciting.
Folks I know purchase the products because they work very well and require the least amount of maintenance from the user.
I think this is the most important statement in this thread. I use apple for my personal computer, and the thing I love best is how it how it respects my time. there is near zero maintenance / fiddling tasks. it seems that fiddling is a big part of Linux because its a hobbyist thing, and for windows its just a chore. with kids my own personal time is a big premium and I can put it elsewhere.
things go seriously to sh!t I just make an apt at the apple store and they help me right there. no judgment on others who choose to allocate their personal time differently. Just saying this is my biggest win with the apple PCs.
I bet you threw a huge fit when phone chargers all turned into USB.
no, because I use apple's lightning connector. It's much more durable, can be connected in either orientation, and handles data faster. I think it's sad when a govt like EU thinks they know what's best for everybody and try to mandate a solution that the market and consumers don't want. nanny govt at its finest.
no wonder apple stands alone and garners 90%+ of profits in the personal computer space.
Please try to get accurate statistics. 45% is more like it, and that's profits, not operating revenue, which is more important.
many people disagree, including investers, which is why apple is up like 20x in the past 10 years while dell liquidated and returned the remaining cash to the shareholders.
You called me on it, and I goofed. It was 45%. They also took 55% of cell phone profits, used to be 80% back in 2011. The point still holds, apple dominates even with a small market share.
can't use something like magsafe because all computer standards push the industry towards the lowest-common-denominator cheap component solution. This is from lobbying of all companies. Thus the "benefit" to consumers is cheap products. no wonder apple stands alone and garners 90%+ of profits in the personal computer space.
Hint to manufacturers: there's a portion of the market that likes nice things, or at least not bottom-of-the-barrel cheap things.
yeah but if the pres attacked someone unilaterally then we would certainly be in a state of war. would you impeach and depose a sitting president during wartime? I didn't think so.
srsly, that's your question? the collection itself is no biggie, but who gets the records? I assume the police are inept to handle this firehose of real-time data, and are just trying to spend down 9-11 anti-terrorist cash that US gives to agencies at every level. this is why the sheriff's dept in Wasilla, AK has an armored weaponized SWAT vehicle.
I see a few important questions here, but tbh I'm feeling pretty weary to list them all.
Complex software. Recognizing objects in images and video seem to be one thing search, autonomous cars, and military robots have in common.
that's super, but what's the nexus between robots, autonomous cars, etc, and advertising supported search? the way they make money is by1) providing free services to consumers that are supported by advertising and 2) monitoring consumer behavior so they can place smart ads and make more money from them. where do robots fit in here. how will they be tied to advertising. how will they be tied to data tracking.
autonomous cars make no sense either. wheres the nexus? somebody has way too much money. its a shame because competition sharpens the mind and makes you produce disciplined well designed products. when there's no budget and no competition you just indulge your inner nerd and make products that have great demos in the 'plex then nothing happens.
yeah but why do they want to get into robotics, other than because they're big nerds? what is the defensible business reason for expanding into robots? whatever happened with more wood behind fewer arrows. sure, they cancel reader but now make hunter-killers.
if I see 2 men one in a business suit and another with pants sagging below his ass a ball cap turned to the side and tattoos on his face, and im told one of these 2 people is going to rob the store, plain and simple I am going to talk to the man in the ballcap and baggy pants first
What will you talk about, ganjadude? Exchange tips?
To a certain extent I agree with you, but I would point out that there hasn't been a major election since the majority of this news broke. It will be interesting to see how much of a role these issues will play in the next election cycle.
I bet Obama won't be reelected! Bites him in the butt.
I think he meant compote. As in, best price for memory but they sacrifice compote. No thank you! I'll take extra compote even if it requires more storage space. Especially during the holidays.

if he can appoint the chancellor, that seems like a big effing deal. and if he's directly elected by the citizens then it is important as well.
draw a circle of people who don't like FB. now draw a circle of people who like skydrive. who is in the overlapping area? people who work at MS.
then what does the president do?
The "Peter King" who wrote this piece is obviously a MS shill. Who both hates Facebook and loves sky drive?
ding ding ding
hint? If you can summarize the paper here it would be very helpful so I wouldn't have to read it.

As long as it follows the three laws
so, chancellor is like speaker of the house?
yes, this is a good explanation. i wonder what the purchase price was though. that's a big slush fund just cuz your last project was good.
just because there's big money in something doesn't mean that all companies need to blindly scramble for it.
