    At the time of this writing (October 2006), the newest Apple computer models, such as the MacPro and possibly the revised MacBook Pro and the revised iMac, do not contain an onboard Infineon TPM. Apple could bring the TPM back, perhaps, if there were enough interest (after all, it is increasingly common to find TPMs in current notebook computers), but that's another story.

    Unfortunately, the summary oversells the issue. First, the reports are from 1972-1983. Not as relevant now, I'd say! Certainly no mention of al qaida or muslim theocratic countries, which would be the most relevant issue. it focuses on communism. Second, there are sixteen different reports, but each looks at a group (asian communist countries, eg), rather than calling out specific countries.

    still, i imagine it would be interesting fodder for a john lecarre cold war spy novel!

    very timely post, as I just got a new wi-fi router and am trying to get a good benchmark. Just copied a 1gb file from the wi-fi connected laptop to the hardwired desktop. 80 sec, 100 Mbps. Is that good?

    obv the number 2^20000 is stupidly high. the point is it's billions of mitosis events, or in your estimate a thousand million billion. not billions of rounds of mitosis.

    you act like this is a quandary, but it's actually pretty simple. the immediate family shares a bloodline, so they share this private medical info. anybody can veto its release. once you're dead, its no longer your info, it's your sons or grandsons info. so when your grandson is the only one left then his word is the word. after he dies it's anyone's came. capisce?
