    And drones fly automatically. That is the whole point of a drone. They can fly for many kilometers to their home base, and would have to be followed in order to find somebody who programmed the drone to fly over the fire.

    Indeed. You can store it in many different ways and potential energy is usually a relatively cheap one. In the US there was even the plan of riding heavily loaded trains uphill during energy excess, and let them decsend again to produce power at night.

  8. People have attempted to gain dominion over others since the dawn of time. The whole desire to put everything you own, and everything that monitors yourself, your baby, your food, your laundry, the loks on your door, your car and make it near-public, it is expected that people will abuse the opportunities you offer. This does not mean that the owner is to blame, but it does mean that the owner puts him or herself in a lot of risk. Sometimes that goes wrong... If you roll the dice, you sometimes roll a 1. Is that so unxpected?

    This exactly. We should almost explore the potential benefits of new technology, but also be critical of it.
    If you look at how many people have smartphones now... Almost everybody. So many zombies that it is scary.

    And the golden rule that all software has bugs, and commercial software in particular.
    We let our customers do beta testing without their knowing about it...
    When "It compiles! Ship it!" becomes "It compiles! Let it drive autonomously!" we are not doing the right rhing.

    At least politicians had the guts to make decision, in the Third Reich period. The wrong decisions, obviously, but now they are just going with flow, only from time to time annoying their voters with some small things, to remind them of their presence, which is also wrong.
