Please add an auxiliary audio output that doesn't require HDMI to get audio. TOSLINK or analog left/right, as long as we can route the audio somewhere else than the display itself.
I was about to write a witty reply to your comment, however the result would not have been interesting, tedious to read, dull, monotonous, repetitive, unrelieved, unvaried, unimaginative, uneventful, characterless, featureless, colorless, lifeless, insipid, uninteresting, unexciting, uninspiring, unstimulating, uninvolving, unreadable, unwatchable, jejune, flat, bland, dry, stale, tired, banal, lackluster, stodgy, vapid, monochrome, dreary, humdrum, mundane, mind-numbing, wearisome, tiring, tiresome, irksome, trying, frustrating, informaldeadly, ho-hum, dullsville, dull as dishwater, plain-vanilla and as boring as a one-man play.
What's funny is that for a lot of us, our first PC probably cost around 3500$ back in the day and now most people think the Mac Pro is a really expensive computer.
Just because I had never heard of any such case doesn't mean it didn't happen.
However, buying game consoles instead of real hardware and then complaining about your edge-case use not working anymore is just as asinine as buying scooters to run a taxi service.
But still, I'm guessing cable boxes are still decoding MPEG-2, with maybe MPEG-4 at the latest. The Apple TV does H.264 and we have H.265 on its way. The cable boxes are at least a decade behind, if not two.
There's no danger in buying a Playstation 4. What are they going to do, rootkit their own hardware? The locks are already in place, so IMHO it's a more stable system than trying to hijack another OS to impose their own limitations.
It's insane that a stupid cable box takes as much power in 2014. The Apple TV has a 6W built-in power supply and I'm pretty sure it never goes that high. The standby power requirements are probably in the mW range, too.
Is it really the end of all the ridiculous lawsuits between Apple, Google and Microsoft?
The screen will be covered with tiny microscopic wax needles.

If somebody took care of that Moore guy, his laws wouldn't apply anymore.
I forgot about that one, but no that's not it. The one I remember was nearly identical in design.
I think I've seen that design somewhere before, but I can't remember where/when.

Even with the "2.5D" limitations of a three-axes CNC machine, I still prefer subtractive manufacturing.
So much for being free of old-tech companies. I guess the "free to use" phone will have to come from Google.
At least it's not a new phone from Sony themselves.

If G.W. Bush had been a stand-up comedian instead of the president of the U.S.A., he'd have been popular pretty much all over the world.
I'm amazed that you can spell Godzilla correctly but failed with the word terrorists.
Let them open the vaults and show the world that they're not just imaginary robots seen in cartoon anymore.
Oh, the fucking Air Force bought game consoles for whatever instead of proper hardware.
Fuck'em.

People keep talking about this, but seriously, I've never even heard of anyone running anything else than games on their PS3.

Except that we are the nerds. We are the people our friends and family turn to when there's hardware to buy.

I did put a music CD in my computer, but the OS I use isn't stupid enough to automatically install any software it finds on a CD.
We keep getting news about automated weapons, cheaper and cheaper drones, and now machine learning.
Everyone saw the Terminator movies, right?
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. - Abraham Lincoln
