Quake 1 engine? When was the last time you played Quake 1? Quake 2 was what they started with and modded it to death to make it a good engine (Though I loved to play Action Quake 2). They also succeeded in making it easiliy modifiable (hence the amount of mods for it). Half-Life was a thing of beauty that you only see once in a lifetime. There's a reason why it's still around...now if only Half-Life 2 can do the same thing...
Having accessed Valve's server through a security-bypassing loophole in Windows, the hackers were able to download an early and hugely incomplete version of Half-Life 2 and post it on the internet for downloading via Usenet
So it's a Windows problem! Yet another company who got screwed by choosing MS products. I say add Microsoft to the list of people at fault.
Yes, it IS being released. I work for a company that helped to put on the release party on friday afternoon. Lots of drinking. They had a mock CNN announcement about MS stocks going up and their competitor's sliding and gave away amusing awards as well. They even bashed a car up with the Sun Microsystems logo on it. Judging from the party I can see now that they are correct when they say Microsoft has more money than they know what to do with. Man I'm sore from yesterday...time for sleep...
Their last release to ADOdb (a PHP project) was under the LGPL license, so I don't think GPL is very far away
does it evaluate javascript in the returning page? Nope, I use that every day
