It's never cloudy in Africa. Anyway, a study suggests... pfff. And even if someone could provide hard evidence, then what? A part of the universe, in this case a beetle, acts as part of the universe, using the opportunities afforded it by its natural habitat, i.e., the universe. Well I never.
Well, I think that I did address your point. You want to channel the debate away from the criticism by imposing curiously (for a random comments thread on the net) strict rules, I think this should not be done. Freedom to rant surely must be one of the four freedoms..? Anyway I don't care about Unity enough to criticize or praise it myself. So I never do. However I strongly defend everyone else's right to criticize it as they please, whether the subject is narrowly related to the shell, or to Ubuntu in a more broad sense, and this considering that Unity is so essential, so central to Ubuntu's identity and what differentiates it from the 400 other Debian-based spins. The reason I even posted here originally was that the personal insults hurled at people who dislike Unity/Ubuntu are highly disturbing, imo. If that is the quality of the Canonical fanboydom nowadays then I must say that the wine has indeed been watered down.
For a fan of that movie I've never seen, you sure seem very uptight about rules of conversation. Relax a little on the offtopic worry. Offtopic happens. As for the other two points you make, I submit that nothing's as retarded as a strong negative response to somebody's opinion expressed on teh internet.
Yes, my opinion. And unlike in China or America, here in Europe we're free to have our opinions *and* express them without being put in jail or psychiatric hospital. I did not miss the point though. The point is that the default Ubuntu shell has received heavy criticism, that many users have switched to other distros because of that shell - but that no amount of online abuse directed against them by the fanboys will silence their criticism.
What makes you think that people who criticize Unity still run it? Anyway people who for some reason feel the need to defend this shell online seem far more angry and aggressive than its detractors.
I'm a KDE user, just so to be clear. But I like to keep an eye on the goings-on in the Linux world and I don't think Gnome 3, and GS on top of it, is "totally unusable and a train-wreck". Although, clearly I don't use it, so that's my bottom line vote. Now, fragmentation. Imo, it would be fragmentation if some Gnome devs forked the project, not when Clem does it or the guys behind Mate (Clem again?), or someone else. Those people would never have worked on Gnome proper anyway. It's FOSS. These small teams of two/single devs work on what they like, and if they can't do that, they don't join the bigger project. They just don't do it. So I don't see any relevant fragmentation in all this Gnome 3 forking. I see the creation of a lot of options for the end user. The quality of those options is debatable, of course, but again - it would not be automatically higher if no forks.
Myself I absolutely refuse to learn default keybinds on any WM/DE. I have my own ancient set that I've been using for years and whatever environment I run I customize the keybinds.
When you manipulate GS via the keyboard the DE makes all the sense in the world. Using the mouse, it's a mess, it gets pretty much disorienting, and I'm not surprised people who are used to working that way totally reject it.
As long as there are people willing to use and fund these forks I don't see a problem. The devs are investing their own time - why should anyone complain? I even find it poignant in a way, the "bringing back old features" pitch. Trying to revive the past, being nostalgic... but above all, having the skill to actually do something about it instead of just whine - so kudos to whoever is behind this.
They don't hate us. They love us. We just don't love them back so they get frustrated. That's all. Back to the matter at hand - building a brane, you say... I think I might try that myself.
... or just one? Or three?
At no point does the article reveal what the target is. IMO, even if this was some universal malware affecting all operating systems known to mankind, it should be indicated.
Therefore it is a very crappy article. It would be like saying, "the French are bombing a country". And then going on at length about how the attacks proceed, but never mentioning which damn country. You'd want that information, wouldn't you?
I was just reading about the nurses who would not get vaccinated on account of Jesus Christ. In this case, the town's opposition to justice may have to do with some constitutional amendment, or indeed, Jesus Christ.
We in Europe observe the United States with interest.
Apple obsession is irrelevant.
Jobs is dead, and iOS is making coffee for Android.
How about discussing Apple-wannabes within the Linux (pardon! GNU/Linux) community and given the nature of that community, how much more dangerous they are.
So there's no phone? Dude don't be wasting your time on "keynotes". Start knocking on and groveling in front of 100 OEM doors and hope that 5 will give you the time of day and put this thing on 10 of their products and maybe you'll get a chance to scoop up 0.05% of Android's market share... oh the humanity.
Researches found that eating raw fruit was damaging to the health of children. I guess some kid had to bite the bullet and peel that orange *and* eat it, to prove them wrong.
That's how it always goes.
And btw, Mars? Why on earth?? There are far more interesting places.

I had no idea mosques were a race.

littel mistaek is no mistaek.
Ah I see no Frasier fans in the house.. fair enough.

Nitpicking on people's grammar when they're in distress, tsk, tsk!

People who dilute good alcohol with water deserve to have ice cubes bitch about their drinking.
Why aren't you using Linux already?

We in Europe welcome this development.
I like this "Google". But what is this "Windows Phone"?
