Simple. Budget cuts. They also had follow on Saturn Vs as well. They could have launched a station that was really big. it could have used the second and all of the third stage of a Saturn V. Just use the "Skylab idea in the third stage and then while living in that part build out the living area in the second stage. They also could have launched a "Wet" version of Skylab into lunar orbit and used that as a base to explore the moon. It all comes down to money.
Umm... http://www.hobby-lobby.com/rc_video_cameras_363_ctg.htm People have been doing it for years. I think the first RC airplane I saw with a "movie" camera was in Model Aircraft News around 1975. I was pretty young but if I remember it was a pusher with a twin boom tail with the Horizontal stabilizer carried on the tops of the vertical stabilizers. With the low cost electric foam aircraft available today along with cheap small digital video cameras it has become very common. Today you can add a camera to a plane with duct tape if you want.
I wouldn't call it pathetic and I never resort to using the term Windoze since I am over 12 but to me this does look a lot like Windows 98/2000. I would like to see some more challenging UIs. You are correct in that keeping the familiar is the easiest way to create a usable UI. If the goal is a lighter faster UI then that is a good way to go. However we have more than a few light fast UIs including XFCE which is pretty good. I would also like to see some work in making trying something new. What many people do not know is that on a modern pc floating point is as fast as integer math and often 3d graphics operations are faster than 2d. I would like to see more UIs start with 3d and vectors for the rendering. It may not be in the scoop of this project but that doesn't mean that it is an undesirable goal.
As to this UI, I am not sure if it is incomplete or if it is a difference in the colors selected but I find it a bit inconsistant. For example if you look at the first picture and the third picture in the top row of screen shots. The selection bar in the first picture looks a lot flatter. AKA it seems to have a different gradient fill than the one on the third picture. in general I find the dialogs just flat and unattractive. They do not seem to "go" with the rest of the GUI. I would say that the dialogs look like windows 98/2000 as does the task bar at the bottom of the screen but the Runner program and the clock look more like Windows XP to me if not 7 or OS/X.
The FCC and DOJ actually stopped a merger that would be bad for the consumer? This has got to be a trick or I am dreaming. Next thing you know the FCC will make Cable companies offer channels alacart and not charge extra for local HD channels over SD channels.
The shuttle was supposed to have two sister projects. 1. a Space Tug. The Space tug would go to high orbit to retrive satellites for the shuttle to bring home or take them too. 2. a Space station. The shuttle would fly to the space station and drop off satellites for the space tug to take to higher orbits and return broken satellites that that space tug had retrieved that could not be fixed at the space station.
Of course a few things happened. 1. Electronics got a lot better. Satellites now last for a good long time. 2. Moore's law. A five or ten year old satellite often wouldn't be worth fixing. By that time a new satellite will be so much better than the old one that it should probably just be replaced. 3. Fiber optic cables carry more data for less money so not as many satellites are needed as people once predicated. 4. The cost of per launch went up as NASA and Congress traded cost per lunch for lower cost for development.
Actually this may be a very good thing. Talk about giving someone enough rope to hang themselves with. The Megaupload video is so not important. Them taking down the TWIT video podcast really could be a freedom of the press issue and one that overrides their agreement with YouTube.
Frankly I never read a thing he wrote. From his wikipedia article I can say I think the was wrong about most of the things he wrote about. To his friends and family all I can say is that I am sorry to hear about the death of your friend.
No it is not. It is a different signal on a different channel. If it was just an error correction then the DOD could never shut down the civilian signal in time of war and those could be used by enemy forces for their weapons. Sorry folks but the military just isn't that dumb.
Not really. 1. It is not easy to get within range of a us carrier group with Aircraft. They have E-2s which give you great radar coverage plus F-18s armed with AIM-120s. 2. If you manage to get past the CAP then you have to deal with the escorts. Both the DDs and CGs classes in use today have great air defense systems. Not to mention a lot of SAMs. 3. You then have to get past the point defenses of the ships to hit a carrier. It could be done but you better bring about 100+ aircraft to the party. As far as using a surface ship? The Carrier can reach out and hit you from a long way. 4. Subs? well they are actually slow. A fast sub is a loud sub and likely to be a dead sub.
As long as the carrier is out to see it will be tough nut to crack. Now if you can get it close to shore and used shore mounted weapons you may have a chance.
The only reason that the Brits lost any ships was they lacked any AEW assets like the E-2 and only had Sea Harriers.
That is what doesn't make a lot of sense. GPS has to signals. One is the commercial signal and the other is the military signal. The Military signal is encrypted so it doesn't make a lot of sense that the Iranians could "spoof" it. Jam it yes but spoofing seems a bit much. I am shocked that something like this doesn't have a celestial navigation system as a backup.
Not Bay of Pigs. That was The Cuban Missile Crisis. And their was no need for Russian over flights. The US was very open and everyone could see how many bombers, missiles, and ships we had.
"So basically, according to you, the US should return the wrecks of the 9/11 planes? Do you realize now how stupid that makes you sound?" The 9/11 planes belonged to US companies and where US registered planes... They never left the US... As to how stupid my comment is.... Well a mirror may be in order.
And good explosives are hard to detonate. The last thing you want is for your drone to go "poof" for no good reason. Thermite is the way to go. Save to store and will reduce the target to slag.
Spying is not an act of war. Everybody knows that the US, USSR, France, Japan, China, and goodness knows who else has spy birds in orbit. Just about every major nation including Sweden flies Elint aircraft of some kind along their boarders other nations boarders. Russia over flew Nato for years with ram jet powered drones. It is annoying and can be embarrassing but it is not considered an act of war. Russia and the US have an official agreement now in fact to allow over flights.
As far as a high-jacked airliner you do know that none of them have been shot down. If an airliner was hijacked and their was a "clear and present danger" then and only after following rules about contacting and leading the airliner to a landing field had failed would the aircraft be shot down. If that airliner belonged to another nation and their was time odds are that the nation that was going to do the shoot down would ask permission or at least inform them. After the shoot down the wreckage and any bodies would be returned as well.
Finders keeps is just not the law at anytime. Of course that doesn't mean that Iran will follow the law. And yes if an unidentified aircraft refuses to land after being notified you are allowed to shoot it down. But if it was unarmed and civilian the wreckage is supposed to be returned. That is also why these drones are NRO/CIA and not USAF. The NRO and CIA are not military but civilian agencies.
Actually under international law they are supposed to return any wreckage from an aircraft that crashes in their territory. That is during peace time. Also as long as the aircraft was not "military" and not armed it is not considered an act of war.
I like this idea. I also do not mind none intrusive ads as a way to pay for content. When I read magazines like Cycle World and Circuit Cellar I actually value the ads. What they consider to be an OK ad matches what I feel are non intrusive ads 100% . Static advertisements only (no animations, sounds or similar) Preferably text only, no attention-grabbing images At most one script that will delay page load (in particular, only a single DNS request)
Frankly since they have an option to block all I do not see why any reasonable person would be upset over this change.
I wish people would stop with the fantasy that Solar and wind are in any way related to oil consumption. Very little of the power in the US comes from oil or in just about any other nation. Solar and wind in theory competes with coal which is the worst source of carbon emissions. Natural gas has very low carbon emissions and is being used more and more for power. Oil is used by and large for transportation. The simple fact is that it will be a long time before EVs are a big enough percentage of cars for them to make a dent in total oil use. Do please let's drop the solar and wind vs oil fantasy. It is solar and wind vs coal folks.
Pretty much. They all play and or show what is most profitable. Thing is that what is most profitable is usually not what is best. The other issue are the cable companies. I live in a town of over 200,000 people. We can got only a single network OTA we get about 10 other stations that are religious and or none english but only one network. The reason is that the cable companies are pulling in the network stations from bigger markets near by. Before cable the other stations in my area would have been snapped up to be affiliates. Now the networks see no reason to do that. They get just as many viewers but from fewer stations. It isn't some great evil plot other than a plot to make as much money as possible.
Opinion: I think that Obama is an antichrist muslim terrorist. He lied, cheated, and stole in order to get elected. He did so purposely to steal money and use his power to help himself and his friends get ahead at the expense of the common guy. He's an asshole, a racist, and a hatemonger.
Just for the record I do no think that but just adding I think or I believe is really all that one needs to do.

That and under that tempiture and pressure we are talking about a liquide very unlike any liquide we normally deal with.
Sorry to reply to my own message but I left out this link http://www.nitroplanes.com/sm18gfpvmivi.html

You are confused. I said that under international law it should be returned. I never said that international law was always obeyed.
Not really.
