If you need a burst of speed to avoid a missile or to clear a target area fast it worked. If you want you can throw in the F-106 which could was supposed to have super cruise capability and the British Lightning which could super cruise but frankly was a flying fuel emergency even without going supersonic. While I am amazed at people that think that Cable TV is a necessity I do not think that a phone of some kind is a luxury. And frankly in this day and age some kind of internet access is vital. The nearest public library to my home is well over ten miles away and their hours are extremely limited so for a person that is working it just isn't an option for internet access.

Why not just use water cooling. Water is a lot more efficient at removing heat than oil. Just install water blocks in place of the heat sinks. You wouldn't need to worry about sealing the contacts and pins which you would with oil. and if done correctly maintenance would be too bad. I believe that Cray used immersion cooling on their Cray-2 line using Fluorinert.
I don't download movies but I do download podcasts and stream radio and use RDIO a lot. If you can live with the limitations then great but the price per is till way too hight.
