No but it erases all trust. The US has not made any new ICBMs since the MX in the late 80s. All the production lines have been closed for a while. Our current ICBMs are Minutemen which where produced in the 60s and maybe early 70s. We have updated the electronics of course. The MX was retired to meet treaty obligations.
The Trident is an SLBM and those are also out of production but we are making spare parts for them too keep them in service.
Other sites list many other errors in his movies but that was the one I knew was a total fabrication.
But since you are an AC I will explain it to you. Whenever someone presents data to me and I find some that is completely false I believe it is wise to cast all the data as false until proven other wise. If they lied about that then what else are they lying about? When a persons agenda means more then the truth they are a danger to all and should never be trusted. I am not talking about errors since we all make them but this was a claiming to be a documentary. And his point was that we where making ICBMs just like we where claiming that Iraq was.
That statement was 100% false and any fact checking effort would have proven that. He picked a factory that made ULVs that was near him and lied. If he had looked up the Titan IV he would have seen that it was not a ballistic missile but a launch vehicle.
In theory you could use it as a ballistic missile just as you could use a Learjet as a nuclear bomber but that is just more justification of a lie.

Not really. let's take the iridium system for costs. 66 Satellites at around 5 million each. Then figure in launch costs and spares and you are going to be at a half a billion dollars easy. Not think about the costs of the ground based infrastructure. Then add in financing and things get really expensive. Now of that 2% in the US how many of them will have coverage near their home? In the then nearest town and or the highway to the town? Let's face it at their home they probably have a land line and can us an FSR or CB on their property.
So out of the 9 million how many would pay the high cost for a satellite phone? Simple answer is a few will and that is why the market is super small and expensive.

The use case is limited and the cost to put up satellites is high. Not only that but satellites just can not support as many users as cell sites+fiber.
The math only works out for things like ships, trains, aircraft over the ocean, news organisations, military, spies, aircraft, and scientists. Even the phones on planes tend to use ground towers because of cost.

They can say what they want. I have seen the pro climate change side say equally as stupid things many times. Like that Katrina was caused by global warming or the two bad tropical storm seasons proved that it was happening. I do find the almost religious zeal of the pro-climate change people to be really a pain as well. They will criticize and dismiss any data that threatens their belief. That is the very definition of bad science.
But the theory that man made CO2 is going cause extreme climatic change is not proven.
That being said I am all for trying to curb CO2 emissions. It is just simple logic.
    1. Large increases in CO2 do cause in increase in the "green house effect".
    2. We are seeing in increase in CO2 levels. Not massive but significant.
    3. We are seeing some warming.
So even without proof the logical choice is to curb emissions since if we are wrong the net effect will be harmless but it may avoid a lot of problems.
I am all for making an effort in the attempt to avoid problems.
But bad science, zealotry, and being dismissive are just unnecessary and harmful to the debate.
Now the person you replied to that started this is doing all that and more but I doubt that he would understand any of what I said. My guess is he would have latched on to my statements about no proof and flat out bad concussions and use that to reenforce his world view. I am skeptical of all papers myself but interested. My strong comments tend to be limited to physics, some chemistry, aerodynamics, aerospace, and computer science. In other words things that had professorial or at least some college level work in.
I have no problem with anybody being critical or skeptical within reason. But the fact that you would demand that some have publish a paper before commenting on Slashdot when you your self are now doing the exact same thing I find hysterical and hypocritical in the extreme.

That and the fact that you feel that they should just shut up because they do not agree with you is also hysterical? Why should they shut up any more than you should? Are you afraid that they may persuade people to do the wrong thing? Are you trying to protect us poor souls from having to separate the wheat from the chaff our self?

You know I am all for reducing CO2 emissions because right now I look at the data and the risk to benefit ratio is for cutting. Or course I also see that if China and India don't start cutting that if the west does it wrong what will happen is that high CO2 manufacturing operations will just move to unregulated countries and the end result will be an increase in CO2.
But your elitist attitude that your view point should be heard while others should be silenced is both offensive and immoral. I am just as capable if not more so to read the journals and listen to all the view points as you are.
So since you feel that no one should comment on paper when they themselves have not published I would simply ask that you sir follow your own rules.
