Nice so it can be re posted on YouTube with little effort. Still think using a free service that everybody and their dog uses makes a lot more sense than paying for it.
Well we could just keep it on YouTube. And why should it alienate the world outside the US? If you find it really important get one of you local national news service to cover it. Or read it on line. The BBC doesn't stream it's content outside the UK so why should US taxpayers pay for people outside the US to view the stream. If it only a few thousand dollars then maybe it is worth it because it would probably cost more to block it than it saves. Hey I am all for keeping it on YouTube and I am sure that somebody will post it on YouTube so people outside the US could view it if they really want to. Now just why should the US Tax payers pay to let people outside the US watch this stream? I say leave it on YouTube.
Well for one thing it cost the public nothing. And it is a very popular site so a lot of people might see it. No different that letting networks cover speeches or news conferences. Finally because it is free. This new system will require the government to pay for the band width, development, and administration of the streaming site. It still depends on Flash as well. I just hope they block overseas views so our taxes don't pay for that bandwidth. Just like the the BBC does with it's feeds.
You maybe correct but I was commenting on the impossibility of the PS3 becoming a $100 device. I did state that it may not happen because it is really lagging in sales. The problem with the PS is simply there are no games that I really want to have. My wife and I just picked up an XBox 360 to add to our Wii. Yes the 360s online experience is better but there are not a lot of games I really want for it and they tend to be expensive. Love the NetFlix on it. The PS3 just doesn't have enough in the way of games to interest me.
Actually Italy did switch sides during the war. Of course they didn't really fight much if at all after the switch and where occupied by the Germans. Mostly I think the original poster was talking mostly about how ineffectual the Italian military was during the war. Italy really was the least evil of the Axis powers. Mussolini was your run of the mill tin pot dictator. Not really a nice guy but not a genocidal maniac like Hitler or the leaders of Japan.
The Cell has not been the game winner that Sony thought it would be. Unless the tools get much better it really may never be a great development system. The PowerPC is a fine system and is used all over the place. Everywhere from cars to aircraft to IBMs midrange and mainframes. Nintendo has a very easy update path. They can increase the GPU and if they really want to just add more ram, more CPU or even more cores, and produce a 1080p capable Wii. I would bet that there is a prototype sitting on a bench in Japan. If the Wii's sales start to sag Nintendo can probably produce the next Wii within six months.
Okay... What the heck does this mean? Sony doesn't make 100% of the profits from games on the PS3. And they sure are not coming out ahead. If anybody is coming out ahead is Nintendo. They make money on every console and they are producing most of the big hits for the Wii. "n the meantime if they sell half as many units as xbox 360, yet 100% of the game profits rather than say 10% of the came profits go to sony and committed exclusive cell programmers, SONY is coming out ahead."
Okay why can't the PS3 hit $100? Yes hard drives are expensive but why do you think that they must keep using hard drives? Flash will keep getting cheaper and cheaper. A 20 gig flash key maybe $5 in five years. Ram? Well that will probably drop in price. Blu-Ray drive? Well CD drives and DVD drives have plummeted so I would say that is also possible. Impossible? I wouldn't say that. Unlikely. Well maybe.
Actually I know that RIM makes and sells a lot of phones. Blackberries are very popular. I will give you that a lot of people want I phones but when it comes to the people that have the money for them a lot seem to be going for other options as well. As I said I am looking at the new G phone and the new Palm myself.
What difference does the blue laser have on CDs? It may reduce mastering errors but most errors happen from the media it's self gets scratched up. I just don't think you will hear any real improvement over a standard CD. But by not calling it a CD any more they will not have to worry that Phillips will bust their chops over any SUDRM they may try to slip in sideways.
"What you may not be factoring in is that the vast majority of the American cell phone-buying public thinks the iPhone is the greatest thing since sliced bread." I just don't think so. You have the Blackberry folks that are completely addicted. Then you have the Palm Fans that are waiting for their Palm Pre to replace their Treo. I don't know if anybody is really addicted to any of the Windows Mobil phones but I am sure they exist. There is a small fan base for Android but I hope will expand as more phones are available. I am not sure that the Vast majority of cell phone users want an iPhone. Now I do have an iPod touch and I really can see the desire to have an iPhone. When I have wifi I love the browser. The screen is great. The things I don't like about the iPhone is lack of Bluetooth stero support. "I am guessing battery life is the reason". Lack of tethering and the lack of video recording. I have heard that the G1 has a compass. If it does I will be really interested in getting one. I have an idea for an app that would really work better with a compass as well as a GPS.
Actually yes they have in the past. I suggest you google Sony root kit for examples of how they have tried to mangle CDs to include useless DRM. At one point Phillips told companies that if they put DRM on CDs using certain methods then they couldn't call them CDs. Well now they are calling them something else so maybe they will try to wiggle it in someway.
Well I thin Chrome is part of Android. I often wonder if Google is getting too myopic. I am not sure that Browser Apps will ever replace all native apps. Maybe Google doesn't as well but their supporters really do.
The Germans where working on an America Bomber when the war ended. Kind of half way between the 29 and the 36. They had a couple of prototypes they where not great.
Actually the article on extreme tech implies that it does. Also I am not sure of what might happen if you switched the drives with the power on. I do know what will happen if you do switch it while the drive is writing. A caddy often will have a nice safe lock so it is a lot less likely than bumping a switch. And since I have seen SATA drive caddys that cost under $14 so I am not sure that this switch is any cheaper.
So are violating the copyright if you read the book to your child? This is just stupid. You are not pirating the audio book! You are not getting the audio book for free! Your freaking running test through a voice synth.
The B-24 had a longer range and a much bigger load then the B-17 it was also faster. It couldn't take as much damage and couldn't fly as high. The USAF used both. The Lancaster was a slightly latter design and had a much smaller crew and bigger bomb load than the 17 or the 24. The US went for a Huge technical leap with the B-29. It was pressurized and could fly farther, faster, and higher than just any heavy bomber of it's time. Some of the advanced German bombers might have been in the same category and there jets where really light bombers so not in the same category. How good was the B-29? Well Russia's first strategic bomber was a copy of the B-29. Britain used B-29s for a while as well. The B-50 which was a Super B-50 was the first plane to fly none stop around the world. The reason that the B-29 wasn't used in Europe was that they where need more in the Pacific. The 17, and 24 where good enough with Mustang escorts.
And an Iowa would be in a world of hurt from a few 2000 or even 4000 lb LGBs. Hey I really like the the old Iowa but a single carrier could take out all four of them from two hundred miles away. Yes it they got in gun range then it would be different but the trick would be getting that close. Then add in the huge number of people that you need run a battleship, the cost, and the lack of modern weapons it just isn't worth it to build new ones.
Unlike the Irish which are great drivers. They have to be or else they would all be dead. Roads the size of hallways and they believe that it is fine to pass on any surface that is not currently occupied by a car, person, or livestock.

"No it isn't. Coyright infringement is a tort, illegal, wrong, and even a crime in some circumstances"
That is called nitpicking.
But I am glad to see that you are not one of the people that feel you are entitled to pirate media.
"What you may not be factoring in is that the vast majority of the American cell phone-buying public thinks the iPhone is the greatest thing since sliced bread."

Really? I did not know. Everybody talks about the Android browser being Chrome. Thanks for the info.
Well I thin Chrome is part of Android.
I often wonder if Google is getting too myopic. I am not sure that Browser Apps will ever replace all native apps. Maybe Google doesn't as well but their supporters really do.

The connectors on drive caddies are rated for like 10k operations.
Actually the article on extreme tech implies that it does.

They are cheap.
They don't invalidate your drives warranty.
Will do accomplish the exact same task.

Are the RAF carriers capable of firing the AIM-120? I though the Sea Harrier had a very good radar with the BlueVixen.
