Well CPUs have gotten a lot faster in the last few years. I do wonder with a modern CPU if a hardware RAID is of any use on a NAS server. You can get a Athlon X2 5000 for under $100 and four GB of ram for under $70 these days. Going up to a Xeon or Opteron will cost a bit more but not a lot. Did you test with RAID5? Just wondering.
While I don't think recreational drug use is a good idea. That person might want to take some deep breaths and walk around the block a few times. Funny thing is that my post was more for the terrified rabid McCain supporters. Obama has a good shot at winning. It isn't in the bag yet but he does have a good shot. Frankly Obama's supporters scare me. No president should go into office with the level of worship that I am seeing among the Obama faithful. I hope he is wise enough to know that they are fools and he is just a man. That level of adoration is a terrible thing for anyone to have to deal with.
Okay for one thing Bush isn't a retard. I don't think he is a great or even a very good president but he is far from a retard. You don't go to Yale if you are retard and you don't fly F-102s and live being a retard. Second I find Palin too conservative for my tastes. Heck my wife who is a registered Democrat and very Pro-Life finds her too conservative. But she is just going to be Vice President. The person you send when the former prime minister of Pango Pango dies. The fear that McCain is going to croak I find amusing. Talk about FUD. Your as bad as the idiot at my office that keeps saying Obama is a terrorist. Frankly I am still undecided but I am leaning too McCain because in think both candidates are actually a lot more liberal they they are presenting in the campaign. Plus I like McCain's energy policy. But whom ever wins I wish them a lot of luck. Unlike a lot of people I don't treat this as a game. I am no cheerleader. I am a boss conducting a job interview. At this point I wish I could just put out a new ad. The two that showed up this time just don't thrill me.
It is also stupid to loose momentum. The Atom doesn't have any real competition and Intel is terrified that they might cannibalize their low end Celeron sales with Atoms. Same reason that Apple didn't announce a netbook.
Starbucks is still trying to charge for WiFi. I will meet you all at the Atlanta Bread Company, Panera Bread, or any of a number of other places that offer over priced coffee and Free WiFi.
Well for one thing it isn't over yet. I admit that it may be naive of me but I have to hope that the people of Iraq have a different choice than civil war or an iron fist dictator.
Second as I pointed out there was overwhelming support in congress both Democrats and Republicans.
Yes I have. And yes most Americans have faith in checks and balances. The invasion of Iraq passed with huge support from both Democrats and Republicans. Also with a lot of support of other countries at the time. The Economy? Not just Bush's fault. Take a look at all the other countries that have had the same thing happen to them at this time. We have been going from bubble to bubble since Clinton. No one was willing to deflate the bubble but bubbles don't last for ever.
If you think one person has that much power for good or evil you are just clueless. Bush is just easy to blame since he is the president. The number of people involved is huge and isn't even limited to a single country.
You can reprocess the spent fuel just like France, the UK, and Japan do. It vastly decreases the amount you need to store and for how long. Also yes Virgina I have a nuke plant in my home town. Love that carbon free power.
Not really. The president can only do what Congress allows. That is what I find so funny about people freaking out over the president. There are checks and balances in the system one person can not mess it up that bad in just four years.
No it isn't Let me fill you in. If McCain wins odds are that we will have a Democratic majority on congress. The end result is that it should keep things somewhat in the center. Or very little will get done that doesn't have a universal support. If Obama wins we will have a Democratic congress. Truth is that I would bet that it will also go more towards the center but if they start really messing up then in two years congress will shift back towards the Republicans and we will again have balance. If Obama or McCain really mess up we fire them in four years and get a new president. In the end it will not be the end of the world. Geez I don't like Obama's energy policy since it is not as pro nuclear as I would like. I am not all that fond of McCain's tax plan. Or Obama's "Guess what folks. You can not give a tax cut to someone that already pays zero or gets more back than they pay in. That is called charity." Truth is I doubt it matter much one way or the other. I don't think their is a great man running for president this year but I also don't think their is a monster running. Chill out and relax.
Batteries are number one. Capacitors would be number two. Solder joints from uneven contraction. We are talking about cold here. I mean a cold that makes Antarctica look warm. Too bad they didn't use an RTG. The colder they get the more power they make.
Well since a hundred years ago we where lucky to fly at 45 MPH or shoot a rocket a few hundred feet it might be possible. Notice that I said a hundred years or so. Also in a hundred years I would hope we would have fusion and possibly a pulse fusion drive.
Well I would bet that IE is still at 50% every where but Indonesia. It would still be prudent to keep your features identical for both IMHO. The sole exception would be a Linux/FOSS heavy site but even then I wouldn't do it. That would be preaching to the choir.
Yes actually they do. I don't fear the police. To be honest just about every time I have had to deal with them they did their jobs well. Be it tickets, a break in, a drunk sibling that got into a fight, or when a crazy friend got taken in for violating a restraining order. I have a good friend that is on the local force and a brother in law that is also a cop. So I have never seen any reason to worry about dealing with them.
SVG does seem to be doing well as a file format. KDE and I think Gnome are supporting it for Icons. I wish Java would support it for Icons. I just see very little of it on the Web. Adobe killed their SVG plug in so SVG support for IE is no where to be seen. I don't want SVG to die I just fear that nothing will stop it from dieing.
Well I predict that the Wii will not out sell the PS2. The simple reason is that I think Nintendo will come out with a an improved Wii before that happens. It will probably move to HD graphics and provide more mass storage options. Nintendo didn't spend as much money to develop the Wii as Microsoft and Sony did so they can afford to replace it sooner. The new Wii will play all the current games but with better graphics and will offer new games. People will flock to buy it just like the DSLite. Just my guess so it could be totaly wrong.
What country does IE have less then 50% of the market? I know Firefox has gotten a big market share in some places but I didn't know that it got over %50 anywhere.
"What if I broke into your house (not a legal eviction = break in, legal evixction have to store your stuff, not "give it to friends"), found your computer and "gave" it to a "friend"." If they did that and called the cops it is in fact legal to use in court. It would be up to the defense to claim that it was in fact tainted. "Oh, and personally, I think the private use of porn doesn't promote it. " Doesn't matter because you don't make up the laws. I think selling a product that you know is harmful should be illegal. But every convenience store, WalMart, and grocery store I know of sells cigarettes and it is legal. What we feel should and should not be legal really doesn't matter. And is totally irrelevant in this case. If the computer was stolen then then that is a separate crime. To me it sounds a lot more like it was abandoned.
I do see native ARM and what is a little shocking is mative thumb! They most be doing that for the embedded market. But I didn't see Alpha, Coldfire, or MIPS. They are of course small in number. But that really is the whole point. You don't get something for nothing. With a JIT the smaller user base CPUs will tend to loose out. But I am glad they are doing better than I expected by including PPC and ARM.
You do realize that degrading the user experience for vast majority of users isn't a good plan. Heck I hate IE. I never use IE except to check that any website code I write works with IE. IE is the most common browser and that is just a fact we all have to deal with. No matter how bad it sucks. Heck I hope SVG does catch on. I just don't think it has much of a chance.

Okay Slashdot I have Politics turned off on my front page for a reason!!!!!!
Stick this under politics and be done with it.

Their are always checks and balances.

In a hundred or so years when we have the technology to get there. Might even be the ideal place for a colony someday.
Well I would bet that IE is still at 50% every where but Indonesia.

In this case I would say that they had enough cause.
Yes actually they do. I don't fear the police. To be honest just about every time I have had to deal with them they did their jobs well. Be it tickets, a break in, a drunk sibling that got into a fight, or when a crazy friend got taken in for violating a restraining order.
