However there is also a tolerance to feeling bad, too. Is feeling slightly less crummy for longer, better than feeling really crummy for less time.

You did see the part about the deaths, right? With reducing fever increasing the virus' reproduction, it could prolong it, or it could give the virus the advantage it needs to take you out...

Exactly. They should give the option at install. Two big buttons at the beginning "Install Windows Metro" and "Install Windows Classic". Which button you hit determines the type of system you get. Classic will give you more control and a good mouse/keyboard interface. Metro will give you less control and a good touch/3ft interface.

  13. Since this is /. I'm assuming you didn't even read TFS in order to get first post. If you had, you'd have noticed that this has nothing to do with domain takedowns and everything to do with domain transfers. Basically, the legitimate people who had been taken down in this bit of BS tried to move their domain to easyDNS, but the registrars they were currently on wouldn't let them. All this decision says is the registrars have to let people move their domains unless there is a court order saying otherwise.

I think it's the level of involvement in the death of the one. In the train example, you would be directly responsible for the person's death, but ultimately, it's something else that actually does the killing. In the doctor example, not only would you be directly responsible for the person's death, but you'd be the one doing the killing and cutting. It's easier to distance yourself when somebody is being squashed by a train, not so easy if you're cutting them open and harvesting his/her organs. Additionally, it could be some strange sense of property that influences the decision. People may be less willing to take what they perceive as somebody's "property" to save the lives of others.

Symantec's corporate antivirus is atrocious (Ghost is fine, if a bit expensive). Not only is it a resource hog, it can cause problems for months after it's been removed. The consumer version is even worse, the thing is like a virus. For a free antivirus, AVG is pretty damn good as a set and forget bit. However, if you're already recommending they pay for it, Kaspersky, NOD32, and Malwarebytes are all better options than Norton.

  23. I think you may have confused "satanist" for "atheist". They are not the same. The first group purports to believe in the Lord Satan. Whether they actually do or not is a question for another day and most likely varies from person to person. The second group purports to believe in no god at all.
